Aural Only: Peaches

Peaches, Shunda K, Billionaire, Ssion, Cody Critcheloe, music video

So what if Peaches music video for "Billionaire" doesn't make me want to ride someone's dick until it falls off? It makes up for its lack of standard sex appeal with a zany Wizard of Oz theme that'll set you right on a "Rollacoasta" ride to WTF-land. And I mean that in the best way possible.

The electro-pop icon pulled a Beyonce with her latest album I Feel Cream, opting to release a music video for every song from the tracklist. Unless I'm mistaken, "Billionaire" is the final clip from the set. One thing's for sure–it's certainly the most ambitious and overblown.

What's next for Peaches? We heard a while back that she had planned to tour with her own version of Jesus Christ Superstar, in which she'd play every single one of the parts. Please tell us this wasn't a dirty rumor, because it sounds like the best thing ever.

  1. i dread to think what that ‘american culture’ that peaches supposedly represents the demise of might be.
and speaking of demise, dewitt – the difference between its and it’s…still a struggle?

  2. I don’t care where she’s from, it’s still ugly, and by “American culture” I mean anything that doesn’t sound like a bunch of uneducated thugs and drug dealers who can’t speak English and are spouting their angry rap-crap. “American culture”…music, musicianship, art, literature…I guess if you don’t know what it is, I’ve made my point.

  3. If this is poor taste…well, there is far worse. I like it. Nice beat, Peaches has always had an edge to her music.

  4. I watched this a few more times to see if I’m missing something, but when it gets to the part where the dog, Toto I guess, gets stomped on and the bloody mess eaten, I get pretty turned off. Is that really “amazing”??? “fucking brilliant”??? Maybe I need to start smoking dope again to appreciate this.

  5. Dewitt – The Jesus Christ Superstar thing is happening, it showed in berlin last week – I didn’t see it but saw it in listings

  6. Haha – I remembered seeing the listing for that show but just googled it out of interest… apparently it got shut down by German officials who owned the rights to the original musical 🙁
