BEHEMOTH! Trailer: Tony Gilroy Returns With Pedro Pascal-Starring Classical Music Thriller

Whatever Tony Gilroy did next was going to be hotly-anticipated. After all, the acclaimed writer/director/creative was the driving force behind Andor, the astonishingly good Star Wars series – and in his return to movie-making, he’s teamed up with another big name in the Star Wars galaxy: Pedro Pascal. The Mando actor takes centre stage in Gilroy’s new movie as writer-director (his first since 2012’s The Bourne Legacy), titled BEHEMOTH! And we have a cryptic but evocative first teaser trailer – take a look:

Gilroy’s new project seems somewhat secretive – but it is, obviously, set in the world of classical music, with Pascal playing a talented cellist. And there’s some nifty editing in the teaser, showing Pascal’s character Alex on stage, but intercutting the title treatment with flashes of other parts of the movie, all while strings stir. Here’s the relatively bare-bones official synopsis: “A gifted cellist, Alex Serian (Pedro Pascal), returns home to Los Angeles after 20 years on the road. Music, which has been the constant, all-consuming river of his life, begins to carry Alex on an adventure that will change him forever.” The astonishing line-up of composers who have contributed to BEHEMOTH! includes: Michael Abels, Emily Bear, Lukas Frank, Michael Giacchino, James Newton Howard, Henry Jackman, Nami Melumad, Brandon Roberts, and Alan Silvestri.

Beyond Pascal, the film also stars Olivia Wilde, Will Arnett, Eva Victor, Hank Azaria, Matthew Lillard and more. It’s currently unknown when the film will hit cinemas, but signs point to it landing smack dab in the middle of awards season. Here’s hoping Gilroy’s Andor streak continues.
