Watch The Emotional Teaser Trailer For “I Do”

Here is a teaser trailer for I Do, a film about a man who might face deportation when he can’t legally marry his partner. Before I say something tacky about an extended version of the shower scene, I’ll let the filmmakers do the rest of the talking:

“This new feature length narrative indie film takes a look at the human cost of DOMA (Defense Of Marriage Act), the law that bars same sex couples full federal level rights in America. We’re currently running an indiegogo campaign for finishing funds. You can check it out here: http://www.indiegogo.com/IDoTheMovie

Looks like a tearjerker, eh?

  1. DOMA was just another example of Republican hypocrisy.  There is no such thing as federal regulation of marriages.  Regulation of marriage has always been within the ambit of the individual states.  Once Hawaii looked as if it was going to recognize gay marriages, the then Republican controlled Congress passed DOMA in an unprecedented power grab of state’s police powers.  Republicans always chant their tired mantra of “letting the individual states” decide various social issues for themselves; however, if they do not agree with what the more progressive states are doing, they pass federal laws to usurp those states.  Prime example:  When Michelle “Crazy Eyes” Bachmann was running for president, she said the states should decide the issue of marriage equality, but she also supported a constitutional-fucking-amendment to ban all gay marriages!!!  WTF?  (Switcheroo).

  2. really amazing-looking movie — unfortunately, my mind is also drawn to concept of extended shower scene…

  3. Any gay man who votes for a Republican puts another nail in his own coffin.

You think it doesn’t matter, but it does.

Here in Ohio an ad for Rick S—sorry, can’t even type it–mentions that the next President will possibly place two new members on the Supreme Court.  As a educated person, you don’t want those people to decide who can wed or what rights people have over their own lives.  You life–my life–depends on gay people voting for President Obama.   Will you pay more taxes?  Sure.  But you won’t end up branded or put in a concentration camp.  The  Jews (and some Catholics) didn’t think it would happen to them, either.

  4. I totally agree.  Rick S is the most vile, evil person to walk the face of this planet.  I love how religious wing nuts like Rick S and Kirk Cameron shit all over LGBT people and then claim that they have nothing against us and that all of their “gay friends” support them.  As if any self-respecting gay man would ever be friends with the likes of those assholes (or Bachmann or Gingrich or Palin . . . ).  Log Cabin Republicans seriously need to get a fucking clue.

  5. I had to put down my wheaties to watch this. I’m man enough to admit that in the span of this video of only one minute and thirty-four seconds, I cried. Twice.

The sad truth about this is that the U.S. Government is destroying lives based on technicalities in the written code. A code which has been established for millennia, based on a clever work of fiction.

  6. Is very sad the story of this film. The U.S. Government must look here in South America. I’m not Colombian, my life partner is. After 11 years of relationship and living in many countries, we decide to come back here to his country. The laws here supports LGBT rights; por example, we have a legal union and I have the Colombian green card. Here, in many countries in Latin Amrica we continuing fighting for our rights.

  12. DOMA shows excatly where America stands with in the world, with the exception of a few countries, we are still stuck with the ‘victorian morals’ i say we ditch them and show the world what freedom REALLY is, i mean all the nay-sayers say that allowing ment to marry will destroy the marriage or worse destroy America.  Well i have yet to see Great Britian fall apart ( as well as the others), so what gives??  I think it says alot about this country when those born here would rather be expatriates and live with whom they love than deal with out dates laws……..even i am comtemplating moving to another courtry when who you love has NO bearing on the laws ( screenname is my manhunt name)

  13. The clip is certainly beautiful and I hope the whole movie will be as well. I absolutely love that this is is even possible as a story line in the states. Equal rights and marriage equality are within our reach at long last.

  14. doma is only geared to keep the are   republican base going if the repub;licans actually stopped squabling bout contraception they would take a good hard look at themselves there should be a constitutional amendment that says if two people are sterile and cant repoduce it should null and void their marraige rites its great it would be the best double edged sword the liberals could come up with cause civil unions arentr the same and for heteros to understand they  would have to be forced into civil unions its the only thing that would shut up the churches
