Media has created such unrealistic expectations in people in general, and especially among gay men in particular. I’m not at all surprised by any of the snarky quips and digs at this guy. On a very pragmatic level, however, I also have to accept that this guy most probably is significantly more attractive than average. This disconnect between what gay men want or will accept versus what is actual only harms our community.
But neither is this disconnect at all surprising.
