Hot Chip‘s “Look At Where We Are” is the type of song that makes me feel sad and/or sexy (depending on when I listen to it). There’s an obvious R&B vibe here, and although that isn’t necessarily anything new for the group, this is easily the best execution of that influence in their ever-expanding repertoire.
I don’t know about you, but the “oh, oh, oh” part of the chorus goes right to my hips and makes me want to dry-hump someone while wearing an ugly sweater with cats on it. Meanwhile, the fragile, about-to-break quality of Alexis Taylor‘s vocals goes directly to my soul and makes me want to dry-hump someone while silently crying to myself… But not in a creepy way!
The music video is weird, by the way. If we’re being completely honest, I’d recommend skipping the video, closing your eyes and just appreciating the song for what it is.
