Gay Bishop Gene Robinson To Give Obama Prayer

Bishop Gene Robinson

President-elect Barack Obama has personally invited Gene Robinson, a vocal gay rights leader and Epsicopal Bishop from New Hampshire, to open his inauguration prayer this Sunday at the Lincoln Memorial

In an email sent to his friends, Bishop Robinson wrote, "I am writing to tell you that President-Elect Obama and the Inaugural Committee have invited me to give the invocation at the opening event of the Inaugural Week activities, We are One, to be held at the Lincoln Memorial"

What are your thoughts on this move by Obama?

  1. I wonder whether he’d have done it had people not made as big a stink about that other guy, but it’s still nice.

  2. Obama’s transition team claims that Robinson was already asked well in advance. Not so convinced about it, since his spin doctors could have announced both reverends at the same time to defuse the outrage over Rev. Warren’s selection. It was still a good move for BO.
