DaQuan: “Molly Ringwald”

Get ready to feel old, ’80s kids! Actress Molly Ringwald—star of the John Hughes classics Sixteen Candles, Pretty In Pink and The Breakfast Club—turned 44 years-old today.

One of our favorite soon-to-breakout musicians, DaQuan of Sgt. Sass, is celebrating the occasion with an early release for “Molly Ringwald”, a track from his upcoming solo album The DaQuan. The song taps into some familiar sounds of Ringwald’s shining decade, almost acting as an audio love letter to her star power and enduring cultural relevance. It’s weird, sure! But give it a few listens, and you’ll be humming it to yourself all day.

Rumors are swirling that a music video’s planned for the song in which “everyone dies”. While I can neither confirm nor deny those rumors, I encourage you to download the song and donate generously (if you’re able to).

DaQuan is a truly visionary queer artist who’s bucking trends and making music beyond the standard gay stereotype.  It’s about time he gets the attention he deserves!
