Chris Kluwe Is Awesome

I’ve got a nomination for Dewitt’s hottest American football player search. Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe is the guy who took on a homophobic Maryland politician in a hilarious and very well-written open letter that brought the concept of “straight but not narrow” to a whole new level. Seriously, if it had been a little shorter, I would have had the entirety of his rant tattooed on myself. I had to settle for getting the “lustful cockmonster” part tattooed on my ass. Oh, and did you know he didn’t stop there? Baltimore Raven Matt Birk (the one who looks like Spam – the processed meat not the e-mail annoyance) recently came out as anti-marriage equality and Kluwe publicly schooled his ass as well. Chris Kluwe for president! Well, at least until we get a gay one in there. I won’t hold my breath.

Out magazine wisely put Chris on their cover and the interview made me like him even more. Unsurprisingly, he’s a voracious reader. Here’s my favorite quote:

“You look at all the sci-fi utopias, and, pretty much in every single one, the basic underlying philosophy is that people treat each other the way they want to be treated and there’s freedom to be who you are. What brings these utopias crashing down is the fact that one group tries to take control of another, and I think that’s very applicable to any sort of human or civil rights campaign.”

Speaking as a shallow homo – while Chris isn’t my exact type, the interview reinforced my huge crush on his personality. In fact, yeah – I’d get with Chris. Perhaps a guy’s mind CAN be a turn-on. If anything, he deserves multiple blowjobs just for going to bat for our rights. Just write to us care of daily@manhunt.net, Chris. We’ll hook you up.
