Aural Only: Rebecca Black

Ugh, Monday! It’s basically the worst day ever. If you’re already looking forward to the weekend, then you can probably relate to Rebecca Black‘s pop masterpiece “Friday”. We have a feeling that this song will single-handedly crush the competition on our next Weekly Top Ten countdown. Watch your backs Adele, Lady Gaga and Britney!

Seriously, who can’t relate to these lyrics? We can’t tell you how many times our friends have pulled up in a car, with some of them kickin’ in the front seat and some of the sittin’ in the back seat… And then we just kind of stand there and wonder to ourselves, “Which seat can I take?” This song speaks to your soul in ways we can’t even comprehend. Listen, and you’ll discover the true meaning of life–fun, fun, fun, fun.

UPDATE: It just occurred to us that some of you may have missed the obvious sarcasm in this post. So, um, take note that there was obvious sarcasm. No, but really! Have people seriously not figured out this was a big joke?

  1. And as for as the cute dude doing the acoustic cover…don’t quit your day job, bud. Maybe a career in gay porn?

  2. What is up with these little teenagers thinking they can sing when they really can’t? First Justin Bieber, now this girl…..go back to Kidz Bop already.

  3. Why? Are we being punished for something? Why subject us to this song? U made my Monday worse…>.>

  4. Her voice is the same kind of irritating, grating shit that sounds like Kesha. Holy crap, how can people consider this music?

  5. dewitt, for the first couple of seconds listening to it i though u were serious.

this is beyond irritating. kesha sounds like a pop legend compared to this.

  6. ok now that the song stuck in my head it suddenly reminded me of justin bieber’s “baby”.
try singing “baby, baby, baby”… instead of “friday friday friday”

  7. How can Justin Bieber not sing? I understand if you don’t like him, but he CAN sing. He obviously wouldn’t of been signed to a record label at such a young age if he couldn’t. Please stfu.

  8. Thank you for posting this – it’s beyond hilarious! And your whole fandom of it was perfection. 🙂

  9. it’s nice that she even gives a lesson on how the days of the week go from thurs to sun

  10. This is what happens when parents only give their children positive affirmation.. Sometimes, Mom, it really would be beneficial if you just told me to SHUT THE FUCK UP.

  11. First Taylor Swift, then Justine Bieber now this Girl. Has all of America gone Deaf. What is the Music World coming too?

  12. wow, dewitt, i must say thanks for posting this.
i listened to it again today. this time i listened to the lyrics carefully and managed to watch it till the end. this is so hilarious. start to finish.

  13. I don’t know which is more humorous: the memes about Black or the posters in this thread who took Dewitt seriously. Even his taste isn’t this bad.

The poll is even more hilarious:

How Has “Friday” Gained Your Respect?

Finally I know my days of the week!

Rhyming “bowl” with “cereal” was a stroke of genius.

    Partyin’ partyin’ (yeah)

It enabled this poll to be made about it.

The non-sequitur rapper really gave it an “ethnic” edge.

It renewed faith in my own tone-deaf-based music career.

Wait, today is Tuesday, what gives?

It really helped flesh out my suicide note.

The lyrics are so fun fun fun fun.

“Friday”? I thought it was “Fried Egg.”
