Woof Alert: The Naked Rabbit Project

Naked Rabbit Project, beard, Sylvain Norget, hairy, bunny

Sylvain Norget is afraid of rabbits, so he took off his clothes and got naked. In the bearded artist's series of self-portraits entitled The Naked Rabbit Project, he confronts his greatest nightmare by becoming what he fears. Some might consider this a narcissistic project, but Norget would reply that he just photographs himself because it's easy. And if he likes things that are easy, someone should really give him my number!

Pretend I didn't say that. Let's focus on a few super important questions… Where do we draw the line between art and porn? If I am too distracted by the artist's lightly hairy butt, does that take away from the focus on his phobia? If you blow your load while looking at these pictures and nobody sees it, can we still call this art? More importantly, can you film it next time?

If this guy's not "woof" enough for you, check out these here, here and here. On the flipside, as the bears vs. hairless fight continues on the MHDaily blog, those of you who like our usual hairless hotties might enjoy these here, here and here. We got everyone covered!?

  1. I do not consider this art. I believe it is just a bunch of erotic poses. To me it looks like he is trying to get into the pornography business. There are hundred of ways to show that you want to conquer your fear. This just screams,”I am a bottom and want to get fucked”

  2. AmericanSoldier and Ian- get a clue! And McKnight- you must be a fun date if you think the pics are dull…

  3. Everybody has there own definition as 2 what art is some like it,some will hate it but I think he shows a flair 4 dramatic arts without stepping over the line . I do not fine his photo’s pornographic at all. That have been said he does have a very nice ass & very much deserving 2 be F**cked HARD.

  4. Suddenly I understand why Anya on Buffy fears bunnies.
Or I just felt like making a really geeky reference. Whichever.

  5. love mark’s donnie darko reference…
But really, I think that these photos are very artistic and very creative. He made some very distinct choices, and I think that the fact that he’s challenging what people think about nudity and art just proves the point even further. Art can be controversial… And ever heard the term, “fuck like rabbits”? Maybe that’s just another way that he is expressing his phobia.
I think that ultimately, though, it’s in the creator’s mind whether a work is porn or it’s art.

  6. whether this is art or not depends on two things:
1- the creator’s intention (which seems to be that it is art)
2- the context/institution the work operates in (more on this later)
on number one it seems that it’s been answered by the little intro (yes, it is art), but the context in which we see this work (a site associated to a dating site, borderline porn?) would change these images to not being or operating like art… to make this clear, go to a big museum and look at 19th century photo journalism pictures that r now considered art (the context changed/transformed its meaning/value)..
anyway, so this work here (sorry for the extremely dry analysis) is a 50/50 in the art/not art debate… now if someone buys a piece, frames it and hangs on their wall, I’d say it goes to 100% art, and if they print this and then jerk off to it on occasion then not art..
is this messed up? perhaps, but it is a good way to distinguish things…. in case u r wondering, I am deeply involved in the art world….
of course, either way this does not decide whether this is GOOD or BAD art/porn/erotica…. that is more complicated =-)
and I do not think art is better than porn, or vice versa, I think they r different things that can at times be related… and I enjoy both immensely..
I do like his ass a lot though, and wish he had done one of himself fucked with a bunny vibrator….. or shown himself getting fucked by that guy dressed like a rabbit…. that for me would push this work really into being more interesting art and more interesting porn…. right now it is just way too vanilla for either category, too safe……

  7. Silly rabbit, tricks are for…oh, nevermind.
Poking one’s posterior through drapes from the Martha Stewart collection is not art….These photographs are contrived and at most, kitschy….and maybe a cry for help (or tuition money).

  8. more like student loans (though I do not think they have those in France)…. this guy is in his 30s I am sure….

  9. Angelus, you’re not the only geek. I almost linked to “I’ve Got a Theory” from the Buffy musical. Any time this phobia comes up, I immediately think of Anya.
“BUNNIES AREN’T CUTE LIKE EVERYBODY SUPPOSES! THEY GOT THEM HOPPY LEGS AND TWITCHY LITTLE NOSES! AND WHAT’S WITH ALL THE CARROTS? WHAT DO THEY NEED GOOD EYESIGHT FOR ANYWAAAAAY…”
If you can’t tell, I really love Joss Whedon.

  10. Regarding V-8’s post…
I think everyone realizes that, if people call it art and hang it on their wall, call it art, and if they do dirty, dirty things with it, call it porn.
I would also suggest that you would agree with me when I suggest that, just because someone says “I’ve made art,” the person hasn’t necessarily made art.
I do not see his “I’m scared of rabbits” message in this collection. Especially the photograph with the doll arm poking out of his butt — yes, that says “I’m scared of rabbits.”
This site isn’t an art site, and if it want’s to run “art” posts, it might be better to do something a little less porny first to get some community buy-in first…

  11. This shit is just weird.
What’s with all the guy & animal posts lately?
Me thinks DeWitt has a secret fetish coming through…

  12. I love the one thats about 7 down with the mask on the side of his face. The lighting is great and he looks fantastic.
I can see both sides of the argument here- on one hand a lot of these shots look like great art but others look like he’s screaming to be fucked (and i would, hell i’d keep him in my basement with a bunny guarding the door to keep him from escaping) and he’s terying to get into porn.
I do like the concept of facing ones fear in that way.

  13. I’ve seen this artist’s work on deviantart.com He does some interesting things. Actually, he’s one of several artists profiled on manhutdaily that I also watch on DA. I think that’s great that you are giving us all so much exposure. For the record, my account is breeze1212.deviantart.com for anyone who is interested
