Good news! The woofy man you see above, otherwise known as Drake Jensen, has recently announced that he’s openly gay. The Canadian country singer dedicated his new single “On My Way To Finding You” to Jamie Hubley, a gay teen who took his own life back in October… But don’t call it an “It Gets Better” anthem!
“People don’t realize what happens to you when you’re young, stays with you your whole life. You just learn how to deal with it… We need to stop saying, ‘Oh, it gets better’, because sometimes, what happens is, people think, ‘Oh my God, it’s gonna take me three or four, five years before [it gets better]’. We need to start dealing with the subject now.”
Well said! The video for “On My Way To Finding You” features Drake’s real-life husband, which is probably a boner-kill for those of you who were drafting up your marriage proposals as soon as you saw the picture above. For the rest of us, it’s just plain adorable.

Hmm, good song and nice voice, but good luck with that whole “openly gay country singer” thing. I like country music and yet I’m not sure I can think of a less receptive audience to his message. Not that he shouldn’t try, of course, but becoming the next Toby Keith he will not.

one person sees it and doesn’t have to translate straight couples – one person sees this – one person doesn’t feel Brokeback Mnt – this is wierd, i’m scared, i can’t stop you – fear it’s wrong and sinful. one person sees this, feels hope, sees an out couple touching. hope is a seed – it needs water or it dies.

I’m still afraid to travel = to go outside a small zone geographically – Hawaii in 12 days is scaring the starch out my slacks, man. Imagine – travelling this late – for the first time. My first time to find an oasis for just a little while. Scared Scriptless. I’m vacklempt. I’m facing my fears because people helped me … tommy trojan dont’ underestimate his career or his target market – set a limitations and its’ yours not his.
For 20 years I got up onstage and I did a good fair and even award winning job – just remember – my fear of being judged stopped my potential from being given a chance. I had stage fright every show, 20 years, all because the 1200 people in the school I went to made me feel I was either a freak, geek AND fag. It cuts like a knife. Stains the spirit and soul. I once had Bill Cosby come back stage – I was so so so scared as he met me – as we talked – total blank. And he was so so proud for me. It was the peak moment in my life. It will be my country gay video.
The gold standard. EVERYONE deserves to live at their gold standard without fear, guilt, shame or lack of worth.
I wanted to be a great actor – I would be so so proud that (if it were my video) for life this video was out there past my life, past my tiny little boundaries.
