Weekly Top Ten Wild Card: Your Picks

The last time you voted a song onto our Weekly Top Ten countdown, it wound up stalling at second-to-last place. Rest assured, we won’t be taking away your privilege to make recommendations after the weak performance of Afrojack‘s “Take Over Control”. In fact, today’s Wild Card round is exclusively devoted to suggestions by Manhunt Daily readers!

You know the drill by now, right? Four tracks are presented, and only one can make it onto our charts. Your votes determine who’ll achieve this prestigious honor. This week’s choices include Alyssa Reid, Void Camp, Kristina Maria and Hyper Crush. Most of them are confined within the pop, dance and electronic space.

If you’re not feeling any of these options, we urge you to leave a comment with your pick for the next countdown. There are no limits in regards to genre, sound or style. Just let us know what you’re listening to, and maybe you’ll see it on our rankings!

– Dewitt

To listen to this week’s selections and cast your vote, follow the JUMP:

Alyssa Reid f/ P. Reign – Alone Again: A fresh take on a classic eighties track? Or a complete bastardization that makes you think, “Hmm, I would much rather be listening to Heart right now. Or even the John Stamos version that was surprisingly recorded before the much more famous Heart version. Or, hell, even Celine Dion”? We’ll let you be the judge.

Void Camp – Dead Bodies: Really hot asses! And old ladies credit-carding those really hot asses! We’re not exactly sure how we feel about it. Though the song itself is a little too “OMG hard-hitting club banger!!!” for our tastes, the music video is somwhere between pure genius and downright disturbing.

Kristina Maria – Let’s Play: There were a few lyrics in this song that totally made me pop a semi. In particular, the line that goes, “If you wanna bring a friend, he’s more than welcome to join in”. It’s not every day that hot chicks are so upfront about their desire to get tag-teamed. Or participating in a MMF bisexual rendezvous. Either way, it’s still oddly sexy, even if you’re not into vaginas.

Hyper Crush – Kick Us Out: We would have liked this video much more if they gave Preston (the cute scruffy dude) more screen time. Just sayin’. The track itself was produced by The Cataracs, the same production duo who brought us Far East Movement’s “Like A G6”. It doesn’t sound all too different from a collaboration between Ke$ha and 3OH!3. If you’re into that sort of thing.

  1. I know I’ll probably be decried as some hipster douche, but I feel like the options this week were a little constraining. I mean, not that I have anything against this type of sound, but just for the sake of a bit of diversity… I’m going to suggest Starfucker. They just came out with a new album this month. I recommend the track “Julius” for this crowd, even though it’s a re-release from an earlier single. Personally I love “Bury Us Alive,” “Millions” and “The White of Noon.”

Oh, but I totally love Belle and Sebastian’s “I Want the World to Stop.” So I’m cool with wretlesex’s suggestion.

  2. right. so those 2 guys came to play a computer game with Kristina Maria after midnight….
dont like the song, cba listening to the other ones…

  3. Ok, I’m just going to say it. Clearly Rebecca Black’s “Friday” needs to be included in the Weekly Top Ten! I’m not even being facetious…think of how many page views and comments you’ll get if she beats out Adele, Gaga, and Britney.

  4. Hyper Crusssssshhhhhhh. Been into these guys before they were popular. [/hipster] This song isn’t as great as their other stuff, though.

Void Camp is probably the best (only?) discovery I’ve made through this blog. Very, very rad.

  5. I heard about Hyper Crush a couple of weeks ago and thought they were a new band, but a lot of people in You Tube said they’ve been around for 3 years or so and they are somehow some sort of cult band. I’m loving this song although it might be their most mainstream and commercial.

  6. One.Last.Thing.

I can’t believe I’m only bringing it up now, but I just have to say… This is the gayest thing ever. And not in a bad way. In like, the best way possible. From video to song. But totally awesome. It’s a little old, but I think it would do well.
