Weekly Top Ten Wild Card: You Vs. Us

There’s only a measly two-hundred and forty-eight votes on our most recent round of the Weekly Top Ten! While we have to accept a portion of the blame, you’ve got to do better than this! Even on the worst weeks, this poll pulls in around one-thousand votes. We’ve had Wild Card posts with more input from you!

Speaking of which, welcome to today’s edition of the Weekly Top Ten Wild Card! This week, we took two of your suggestions and placed them against our own picks. May the best man win? Click through to listen and cast your vote, and be sure to get in your last minute votes on the actual charts!

To listen and cast your vote, follow the JUMP:

The Script – For The First Time (Reader’s Pick): Times are hard, y’all! And The Fray made a song about it… Er, we mean The Script. We know they don’t necessarily sound the same, but it’s always tough to sort out these adult contemporary radio bands. Ignore the irony of a presumably rich band singing about unemployment.

Diamond Rings – Show Me Your Stuff (Blogger’s Pick): Along with Natalia Kills, this up-and-coming Canadian indie rocker will be opening for Robyn’s upcoming tour. While we originally planned to include his latest single “Something Else”, we changed our minds after watching the music video for “Show Me Your Stuff”. Between the glittery peacock costume and the choreographed dance sequences, it’s kind of the gayest thing ever. Plus, he even shows some love for bears around the 1:42 mark!

Roxette – She’s Got Nothing On (But The Radio) (Reader’s Pick): Wait, didn’t Lady Gaga already make a song like this? Not so much. This single marks the return of Swedish pop duo Roxette, who brought us such hits as “Joyride” and the original version of “Listen To Your Heart”. Do they still have what it takes to survive in the current music scene?

Iyaz – Last Forever (Blogger’s Pick): We’re not going to lie. This is our blatant attempt to exploit your weakness for all things David Guetta. The French DJ produced this track, which means it sounds exactly like every other song he’s churned out in the past year. Long story short? It’s the same old crap. But you’ll totally want to shake your ass.

  1. None of the above … the first and last are the closest thing to tolerable of the four, and the worst of them is the Diamond Rings song.

  2. I guess that’s what makes rock & roll or something. I like all of these, but for new sound and a hot beat/synth sound/piano lick, I pick the Diamond Rings. Glad to see the return of Roxette too with a pretty good record. The Script…heard it all before, and Iyaz/David Guetta, ditto.

  3. GO ROXETTE. C’MON GIVES LET’S GIVE THIS OLD BUT CLASSIC GROUP OUR SUPPORT!

REMEMBER THEY WERE ONE OF THE 1ST EVER BANDS TO COME OUT AND SUPPORT GAY RIGHTS!

  4. Absolutely love The Script and this whole album is excellent. Yes, not too different from the first album, but that was a good effort, so more of that is fine.

I tried voting last time but the page would never load. If that makes you feel any better….

  5. Roxette all the way. They deserve it so much! We almost lost Marie to cancer, and I remember them in 1989 supporting gay rights all over the world and making stance on gay marriage. I believe they were one of the 1st acts to do so.

Plus lets not forget all their amazing contributions to pop music!

  6. That’s definitely the worst Diamond Rings song out there. But the music video is hilarious. So I went for it. All of his videos are pretty campy eighties throwbacks. But this one takes the campy cake. Love it. But like, the hate kind of love.

  7. Of course, Roxette has a massive audience, they will tour the world in a month and most gigs were sold out…. People love the 80s!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. I am going to see Diamond Rings. He is opening for Robyn at the end of the month. I am SO excited. Just because I’m going to see him live, I’m voting for him! 🙂

  9. Maybe the reason for the low vote count is the terrible options. I think you need to change the format for how songs are chosen.

  10. Maybe people are tired of you rigging the vote. 😉 Amazing how a mediocre song managed to top the charts one week (mind you it was leading by 10% over 2nd place on the second day of the poll) and then fall back down to #3.

IMO, find a new person to do this column. You clearly are too biased and have no problem letting it show.

    Moving on…

I chose The Script because nothing else was even worth the time.
