Weekly Top Ten Wild Card: Super Random Shit

Kittens! Puppets! Nickelback? You’re going to think we lost our damn minds on today’s edition of the Weekly Top Ten Wild Card. After last week‘s star-studded diva battle, we’ve decided to switch things up with some new sounds, hilarious videos and motherfuckin’ SuBo.

Yeah, that’s right! Susan Boyle is making her way to Manhunt Daily, whether you like it or not. She’s joined in this round by Shayne Ward, Holy Fuck and Utada Hikaru. The song with the most votes will make it onto this weekend’s countdown, so click through and pick your favorite before it’s too late!

Shayne Ward – Gotta Be Somebody: When I voice my opinion on a shitty song, people complain that I shouldn’t even bother posting it.  And when I refuse to post a song because it’s shitty? People complain that I’m not posting it. With that said, here’s Shayne Ward’s cover of Nickelback’s “Gotta Be Somebody”. The video’s really good on mute!

Holy Fuck – Red Lights: Honestly, I think Holy Fuck is absurdly overrated, and they’re one of the lamer bands to emerge from the hipster blog machine. But this video, guys! There are cats driving cars, playing instruments and floating all over the place. Do you understand how awesome this makes me feel?

Utada Hikaru – Goodbye Happiness: Once you hit the one-minute mark, you will understand why this is the most awesome music video since “Thriller”. Okay, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but it’s at least the best clip since Holy Fuck’s “Red Lights”. Make sure to hold out until the 3:55 mark… There’s a super-hot bear in this video!

Susan Boyle – Perfect Day: Judging from recent history, it’s guaranteed that Susan Boyle will sell buttloads of albums for this holiday season. To kick off her latest album The Gift, the singing sensation covered Lou Reed’s classic track “Perfect Day”. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a Susan Boyle cover. You can be the judge of whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing…

  1. Utada all the way. The rest were just so lame. Utada’s was very fun, and while it won’t make a dribble here stateside, It at the very least belongs in “the 10” if not for a little while…

  2. Hmm, I’m allergic to cats, and that may also be an issue in that last video? Cute video from Utada, but Shayne, on mute or not, has to get my vote. Like Alexis Jordan said, Mm-mmm-mmm-mmmm.

  3. I’m a huge Utada fan and I love this song, I really wish she wasn’t taking such a huge break after her greatest hits album drops. Goodbye Happiness all the way!!!

  4. Cats driving, Japanese dance diva, SuBo and hottie Shayne. This can’t be more diverse this week. I went with Shayne Ward because he’s looking yummy now that he’s back in the biz and he got hotter over the years.

  5. Shayne Ward absolutely. Hey, you guys made Chris Salvatore #1 once so what’s wrong with including this UK import?

  6. My day would certainly be more perfect if Susan Boyle fell off the dock! Could a song be more bloated?? The shirtless dude is a boy band wannabee.

I give it to the cats, and Im a dog lover!
Speaking of cats, that Asian’s girl song is akin to the sounds of cats mating…..

  7. I had to go with Utada (my boyfriend speaks Japanese – he’ll have to explain it to me, lol) just because it was goofy cute (and so is she).

    Also, ZOMG, kittehs driving!!1! Ha!

  8. Utada’s was cute, SuBo was good, Shayne Ward was passable (can’t stand Nickelback), but Holy Fuck? That was an awful video. Without the visuals of the kitties (which I can only imagine the band members sat around congratulating themselves on for being so cool and hip), it’s just an instrumental track, and not a very good one at that. Hipster indeed.

  9. I gotta agree with Olly. Utada’s was cute and fun. The whole video in one straight take is impressive too.

Shayne Ward’s cover reminded me of the “Growing Pains” theme song. Not impressive at all.

  10. Shayne Ward, all the way. After all, this is Manhuntdaily, not the Huntington Post or The New York Times, LOL.

  11. I fricking love Susan Boyle. She melts my heart. I know she is not everyone’s cup of tea, but I think she is a total sweetheart. Totally buying her new album. It will be blasting for a while, much to my boyfriend’s dismay lol.

  12. Why has there been such a fuss over Susan Boyle who won the talent show in England? Whatever happened to the country boy from Kentucky who won American’s Got Talent??? We never hear about any of the winner’s here in the USA but England’s winner is in every media outlet in the country. Let’s support our own people!!!!

  13. Shayne Ward sounds like an 8O’s Mike & The Mechanics record; Susan Boyle makes me want to commit suicide; Utada Hikaru is cute; but I gotta go with Holy Fuck. These guys rock!

  14. Shayne Ward just got hotter as he got older. Saw his performance on X Factor last weekend and he was great. Kylie was also there performing Better than today.

  15. shane ward just for his hotness
wish i knew who he was and took a pic when i saw him in a mall in manchester back in 2005 or 2006 when he just got famous…

  16. Wow didn’t expect to see a famous J-Pop artist on Manhunt. Utada Hikaru is extremely talented! It’s too bad you chose this song. Try Hikari, Sanctuary, or First Love if you like Goodbye Happiness. =)

  17. I love Utada every since I heard her do a song 4 tha video game Kingdom Hearts & think she is really talented & creative!!!

  18. Utada FTW. My Gods that video was more than adorable. And super-hot bear was super hot. ;P I’m gonna watch it again. Yaaay I love her. <3

  19. Why the fuss over Susan Boyle? Because she is an inspiration. She endured lookism, the most pervasive prejudice and bigotry (commonplace within the gay “community”) and overcame it with style and dignity. Ms. Boyle spent a good deal of her life caring for her ailing mother. After her mother died (who, before her passing, encouraged her talented daughter to audition for BGT), Ms. Boyle could not find work partially because of her looks and age (along with a slight learning disability) and with nothing to lose decided to audition for the show. She always wanted to be a professional singer, but, again, because of lookism she “was never given the chance, but here’s hoping it will change.” The audience initially laughed at her, the Judges Simon and Pierce snickered at the thought that this “ugly” woman could do or be anything special. Only Judge Susan was willing to give her that chance. And when it was over, that shameless audience and the two judgemental Judges were shocked into adulation, applause and a standing ovation. As Judge Susan said: “Everyone was against you. That was the biggest wakeup call ever and it was a complete privilege to listen to [your performance].”

Ms. Boyle did not allow years and decades of prejudice to prevent her from achieving success with her talent and other abilities, to show what a remarkable and dignified person she is and how much she can offer. She has made a “wakeup call” to a society that is miring in a see of lookist prejudice and bigotry. The gay “community” can especially use that wakeup call.
