Weekly Top Ten: The Unstoppable Gaga

Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Shakira, Aqua, Robbie Williams, Florence + The Machine, Ke$ha, Alexandra Burke, Flo Rida, J. Lo, Jennifer Lopez, Cheryl Cole, Will.i.am, music, gay, dance, pop, electro, UK, charts, voting, weekly top ten, rankings, number one spot

For the third week in a row, Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" has taken the top spot on Manhunt Daily's Weekly Top Ten. For a moment, it seemed like she'd have competition in the form of "Video Phone", a collaboration between Beyonce and, well, herself. Despite placing second last time around, the song oddly didn't even make it onto today's charts.

And it's not the only song that had an upsetting turnaround. For a while, Adam Lambert looked like he'd pop into the top five, potentially thanks to the controversy between him and ABC. Well, he may be here "For Your Entertainment", but you guys weren't in the mood to be entertained. Both Toni Braxton and Kelis suffered similar demises. Peaches and Hot Chip didn't even get a chance to be defeated here, as they were both eliminated in the Wild Card round.

If you're new to the Weekly Top Ten, you might want to put your clothes back on while I explain the rules. Better yet, keep them off! Each week you'll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three moving to the next week. From those results, we'll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we saved and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week's charts

So what do you have to do to get your favorite song on the list? You could try sending me hunky rugby player Ben Cohen in a gift-wrapped box (make sure to poke holes in it!), or you could just leave a comment with your suggestion. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if it's anywhere near as hot as Scott Tanner's ass… you might see it here next week! And yes, I'm shamefully linking to random posts. What are you going to do about it?

UPDATE: As you may have noticed, you guys could only vote for one song this past weekend. Since I think it'd be unfair to reset the polls or let future voters choose three, we're going to keep this vote going as is. It'll be an interesting experiment to see where your loyalties lie. And holy crap, who would vote for J. Lo over all of the other contestants? I'm baffled.

To check out the charts and vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Lady Gaga – Bad Romance (LW – 1): I'm still bummed that Simon Cowell killed Gaga's dream of singing amongst a flock of lambs and butterflies, but at least she can take some comfort in being number one on our Weekly Top Ten. If given the chance, we'd gladly let her perform with some lambs. As long as she doesn't try to eat them live or something. You never know what she'll do in the name of art.
  2. Janet Jackson – Make Me (LW – 7): Can we call it a comeback? After her American Music Award performance and an exciting video debut, Janet pops in to become this week's runner-up. When is her new album coming out again? I can't wait to hear it!
  3. Shakira – Did It Again (LW – 3): Now that we've thrown "She Wolf" back into the closet, it's nice to see that this song has been doing so well on our charts. I can't even talk about this song without mentioning the video. Does anyone want to attempt recreating that bed-dance scene? I'm not the best dancer in the world, but we could make it work. And if we can't, I'll make it up to you in other ways, if you catch my drift.
  4. Aqua – My Mamma Said (LW – 4): Aqua is holding their ground at the number four spot. Is this where they'll peak or can they climb any higher? I'm still wondering if this'll be winter's slow-rising hit. Keep voting like this, and it just might be!
  5. Robbie Williams – Bodies (LW – 6): You can't get rid of Robbie that easily. He's stayed around for a pretty long time considering previous penis-having individuals' luck on the charts. Speaking of Robbie's penis, I'd like to put it in my mouth. While he sings this song to me. I'm nearly 'gasming at the thought of it.
  6. Florence + The Machine – You've Got The Love (LW – 5): Have no fear! Since Robbie and Florence's percentages were tied, this one doesn't count as a "save". We're not sure if we could handle parting with this song either! The vocals are too fucking fantastic.
  7. Ke$ha – Tik Tok (DEBUT): We still think you guys didn't give this song a fair chance in the Wild Card round. Did it seriously get beat out by a Trina song that allegedly featured Lady Gaga? It makes sense given your allegiance to pop music's favorite weirdo, but it just isn't fair!
  8. Alexandra Burke f/ Flo Rida – Bad Boys (WILD CARD): I'm starting to think that I can enjoy this song even more by ignoring Flo Rida's lameness. Remember when pop stations used to edit out rappers back in the '90s for the radio edit? Sure, it always came off as semi-racist to me, but it would really come in handy right now.
  9. Jennifer Lopez – Louboutins (DEBUT): You can talk all the shit you want to about this single. I realize that it's actually kind of terrible. But can we at least acknowledge that it's better than "Fresh Out The Oven". I would rather have someone step on my face in a pair of Louboutins than listen to that song.
  10. Cheryl Cole f/ Will.i.am – 3 Words (WILD CARD): For all the shit I talk about Will.i.am, he's surprisingly tolerable on the title track from Cheryl Cole's latest album. This is another one of those slower, good-for-winter songs.

  1. What is with the gays not supporting our gay Miss American Idol, Adam Lambert?
The album and single is fun and catchy. I think some of you are just plain jealous….
Oh well – My vote this week goes to Janet. 🙂

  2. I recommended Robbie Williams “Bodies” a few months ago and it worked its way to #1. So I decided to nominate another British male, this time a rapper, Dizzie Rascal.
I like “Dirtee Cash” a lot and although it heavily samples a dance music classic, it’s worth listening to. At least consider it for the Wild Card competition.

  3. The poll is only allowing one choice, not 3.
I went with Florence + the Machine. She will remain #1 in my heart.
Seriously? Louboutins better than that other crap single? JLo needs to quit while she’s ahead, because she hasn’t had a decent single in years.
Also, I’d like to recommend “Ambling Alp” by Yeasayer. It’s completely different from everything else on this list, but it’s damn good.
