Weekly Top Ten: The Last Round Of Summer

Even though summer’s not officially over until a few weeks from now, this Labor Day weekend marks the symbolic end of the season. It won’t be too long before we announce the top ten winners on our 2010 Song of Summer list, so stay tuned into Manhunt Daily for the results!

In this final round, Lady Gaga maintains her number one spot, and we wave a sad goodbye to Kylie Minogue‘s “All The Lovers”. One of these two ladies will ultimately claim this summer’s title, so it’ll be interesting to see how this last vote sways the numbers.

Aside from Kylie, we’ll also be parting ways with Kris Allen, Armin van Buuren and Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. None of these three artists could gain enough votes to stay on the countdown, so we had to send them packing!

So how does this all work? If you’re a Weekly Top Ten virgin, hold onto these two dicks while I explain the rules to you. Each week you’ll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three that you’d like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we’ll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we save and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week’s charts.

Wishing there was a “none of the above” option? Well, quit your bitching and tell us what you want to see on the charts by leaving a suggestion in the comments. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if we think it’ll have a chance… you might see it here next time around!

To check out the charts and vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Lady Gaga – Alejandro (LW – 1, W14): Now that we’re retiring songs after fifteen weeks, Gaga will only be sticking around for one more round. Hopefully, all the little monsters will help her go out with a bang! Then the rest of us can stop complaining that she needs to release another damn album already…
  2. Katy Perry – Teenage Dream (LW – 2, W6): No matter how hard we try, there’s no escaping the pop dominance of Katy Perry. She’ll always be invading the radio with her annoyingly catchy tunes, and it’s just something we should probably get used to. This song is no exception to the rule.
  3. Adam Lambert – If I Had You (LW – 5, W12): Oh, how the tables have turned! While Kris Allen may have won American Idol, there’s no denying that this runner-up has stolen his spotlight. And after Kris got voted off the countdown? Adam’s still in the mix after twelve weeks!
  4. Scissor Sisters – Any Which Way (LW – 4, W3): Speaking of the tables turning, do you remember when Lady Gaga was the opening act for The Pussycat Dolls? Now, the Scissor Sisters are opening for her 2011 tour. This sounds like a match made in gay heaven.
  5. Kelly Rowland – Forever And A Day (LW – 7, W2): It’s becoming blatantly clear that Kelly and David Guetta will never recapture the magic of “When Love Takes Over”, but we don’t mind if they keep on trying! “Forever And A Day” is the latest effort from the duo, and it’s definitely a crowd-pleaser.
  6. Cee Lo Green – Fuck You (LW – 8, W2): Out of all the other options, we had no choice but to save Cee Lo Green. I mean, how can you deny a song that’s called “Fuck You”? We can’t get enough of this track, and hopefully you’ll jump on the bandwagon before it’s too late.
  7. Kylie Minogue – Get Outta My Way (DEBUT): The Australian dance diva returns to the charts with an even better single than “All The Lovers”. Should Lady Gaga be worried about holding onto that number one spot? It’s impossible to say at the moment, but she might want to watch her back. We’ve updated Kylie’s post with the brand new music video, and it’s definitely another scorcher.
  8. Katy Perry – Peacock (DEBUT): Against our better judgment, we’re throwing on this Katy Perry song about penises. It may not be fair that she has two songs on the countdown, but you’ll just have to do everything you can to change that. In other words? Please vote for anything but this. I’m begging you.
  9. Shakira – Loca (DEBUT): While Shakira rocked the charts with “She Wolf”, it’s unclear whether her latest single will have the same effect. At the very least, it’s nice to see her returning to her roots, and we’re definitely looking forward to her upcoming bilingual album!
  10. Sufjan Stevens – I Walked (WILD CARD): Cee Lo Green and several other artists have managed to avoid the “Wild Card” kiss of death, but we’re not holding our breath for Sufjan Stevens. While he may be the cutest boy in this competition, it’s not always about good looks!

  1. I voted for Katy, Kylie and Shakira. Speaking of “Loca”, why not give a chance to songs in other languages to participate in this chart.

I want to suggest Stromae’s massive European hit “Alors on danse”. Has been #1 in 10 countries and it’s now also a Top 40 hit in the UK. One of those rare crossover hits in a different language and it could help to spice things up.

  2. Alejandro is SO overplayed. That songs just needs to die now.

I vote Get Outta My Way ALL THE WAY! Followed by Katy’s Peacock, Adam’s If I had you and Shakira’s Loca 🙂

  3. I second that motion to have Stromae’s song in the Wild Card. Although I don’t understand French, it’s a catchy single. I voted for Kylie and Katy because of their hot videos.

  4. have you heard cee lo green’s “fuck you”? that’s an awesome song. i know it’s not a stereotypically gay jam or anything, but dude can sing like crazy and i love the old school vibe he’s got on it.

  5. I want to suggest these songs for the Wild Card next week.

    – Kelis: Scream
    – Alesha Dixon: Drummer Boy
    – Medina: Lonely
    – Alex Gaudino: I’m in love (I wanna do it)

I voted for Shakira, the goddess Kylie and Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream”.

  6. Once again I go with Kylie and Katy. For the Wild Card I either go with Stromae’s song or the one by Medina. Her previous single “You and I” was competing last year. If you watch the video, don’t start comparing her to Gaga. She’s been around longer than the Lady and she’s a star on her own in Denmark.
