Weekly Top Ten: Pink Is Still Fuckin’ Perfect

Yawn! The top five artists on our Weekly Top Ten countdown are exactly the same as last week‘s round. Hopefully, pop princess Rihanna will add a sprinkle of competition, though we’ve also got our fingers crossed for the rest of today’s newbies–Jessie J, Patrick Wolf, Garçon Garçon and Sleigh Bells.

To make room for these guys (and gals), we had to get rid of Cher, Jennifer Hudson, Lykke Li, Martin Solveig and Savage Skulls. While we contemplated saving one of these songs, none of them pulled in enough votes to justify a second chance on the charts.

So how does this all work? If you’re a Weekly Top Ten virgin, why don’t you Man Up and grow some balls while I explain the rules to you? Each week you’ll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for any and all that you’d like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we’ll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we save and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week’s charts.

Wishing there was a “none of the above” option? Well, quit your bitching and tell us what you want to see on the charts by leaving a suggestion in the comments. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if we think it’ll have a chance… you might see it here next time around!

– Dewitt

To check out the charts and cast your vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Pink – Fuckin’ Perfect (LW – 1, W3): The gap between Pink and Britney grew wider, with nearly twice as many votes separating them. Has the “Fuckin’ Perfect” singer surpassed Ms. Spears in terms of gay icon status? Perhaps that may be a stretch, though our charts seem to provide support for this theory.
  2. Britney Spears – Hold It Against Me (LW – 2, W4): The pop diva stepped up her promotional campaign, announcing the title for her seventh studio album, Femme Fatale. The cover art has led to many debates, mostly surrounding the general strength (or lack thereof) of Britney’s weave. Oh, and did you see the first teaser clip for the music video? We’re confident to say that her version will definitely be better than Ryan James Yezak‘s.
  3. Adele – Rolling In The Deep (LW – 3, W9): The praise for this album just keeps flowing in, as Adele’s second single “Set Fire To The Rain” has moved into the public’s eye. We’re still digging this first release, though you shouldn’t be surprised if next week’s countdown has two Adele songs on it!
  4. Katy Perry – Firework (LW – 4, W10): Is it wrong that we’re praying for the “E.T. (Futuristic Lover)” video to drop, just so people can get over this mess of a song? We get it! Katy Perry likes bad American Beauty references, being herself and exploiting the gay community for record sales. Can we move on now?
  5. Florence + The Machine – Dog Days Are Over (LW – 5, W7): Florence Welch continues to hang on by the last thread. Unfortunately, it looks like the “dog days” aren’t the only thing that’ll be over soon. This talented beauty may not be able to last much longer on the charts. Sad face!
  6. Rihanna – S&M (DEBUT): We like it, like it! C’MON! But does the rest of the dick-sucking world like it? The reviews of the Bajan princess’ latest video were mixed, and several folks took issue with her inclusion of a certain gay “journalist”. Even so, we can’t get over this song’s thumping beat and sexy energy. ::sigh:: We feel so stereotypical for loving this.
  7. Jessie J f/ B.o.B. – Price Tag (DEBUT): Will this be Jessie J’s breakout hit in America? Or will the US audience ignore it, like virtually every other artist from the other side of the pond? The verdict is still out, but we’ve totally marked this jam as our latest guilty pleasure.
  8. Patrick Wolf – The City (DEBUT): Between this original track and the Richard X remix, this British singer-songwriter has provided us with enough awesomeness to blow up our iPods. And did we mention he’s totally cute in a twinky hipster kind of way? We want to hold onto his bangs while we, um, do stuff to him…
  9. Garçon Garçon – Stay In Touch (DEBUT): Of course, why settle on one cute and talented guy when you can have two? This openly gay electro-pop duo intrigued us in our exclusive interview, and now they’re making waves with their official debut single “Stay In Touch”. Let it be known–these boys are going to be huge in 2011! If you’re digging their track, it’s now available for download on iTunes.
  10. Sleigh Bells – Rill Rill (DEBUT): Yesterday, we spent a small portion of our day rocking out to this tune in Manhunt headquarters. This track has a mellow, summery vibe, which is surprising when it comes from a band who’s known for their noisiness. We absolutely love it.

  1. The votes this week went to Katy Perry, Adele and Rhianna. 🙂

I would also have voted for Kylie’s Get Outta My Way if it was on the chart this week….

  2. I liked the Garcon Garcon song. Really like his voice, whoever was singing-the first garcon or the 2nd garcon!

  3. I’m glad Jessie J is back in the countdown. People are gonna hear a lot from her this year so better get used to it. And don’t wait for the new Adele and Katy Perry videos to come out. Those songs are awesome so they should be here soon. I always said this chart is about music (good or bad) and not about videos. That’s what the MTV awards are for.

  4. katy perry just needs to go away

voted for Florence. IMO her best song is Heavy In Your Arms (was on the Twilight Eclipse soundtrack but don’t let that keep you from checking it out)

  5. E.T.(Futuristic Lover) – Katy Perry
Illusions of Bliss – Sarah McLachlan
On The Floor – Jennifer Lopez

  6. Normally I’d only vote for P!nk…but I enjoy that Katy Perry pisses Dewitt off so much. Had to show her some love.

  7. I voted for Rihanna and Pink. Still love both of their tracks the most. Can’t choose between the two. LOL

  8. My Picks for next week:

    Kesha – Blow
    ET – Katy Perry
Illusions of Bliss – Sarah McLachlan
On The Floor – Jennifer Lopez (maybe without pitbull)

  9. Kesha is gonna have another huge hit on billboard with her latest single “Blow”, although I am sure peeps will rip it apart on here. Still, I hope it will be included in the countdown or aural only.

Sarah Mclachlan’s “Illusion of Bliss” is her best single since “Building A Mystery.” I would love to see it showcased on here. I dont think many peeps will vote for this haunting song, but perhaps an aural only.

Lastly, the Black Eyed Peas just announced that “Just Can’t Get Ehough” will be their second single. This song may change alot of negative views about the group!

  10. I used to love Britney music, considered a fan, but lately after her recovery the artistry in her music kind of disappear and so too her hot performances. 🙁

  11. So unsure about Pink’s latest song.
The verse is awesome, but the chorus is total crap…. which makes the song ‘so so’ overall.

I’m pretty sure about Britney’s latest smash though.
Awesome verse, f**cking perfect chorus and a pretty good bridge!

  12. I love Jessie J. Price Tag is the current UK Chart #1 and she has two songs in the Top Ten. I also like Rihanna’s single. Interestingly, UK radio has changed the title of the song to “Come On” to avoid controversy. My suggestion for the Wild Card is another English songstress, Claire Maguire. She’s another new voice to look for in 2011 along Jessie J.

  13. The Pink song is the only good one in the bunch! When will Rhianna & Britney just go away and people realize they have no talent! At least there are new cds coming from Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson & Lady Gaga, at least all 3 of them can sing!

  14. The Pink song is the only good one in the bunch! When will Rhianna & Britney just go away and people realize they have no talent! At least there are new cds coming from Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson & Lady Gaga, at least all 3 of them can sing!

  15. Let’s get Claire Maguire in the countdown. Another talented voice from Britain. Her first single is called The Last Dance. It’s also time for a new Katy Perry single, that Firework song is just so 2010.
