Weekly Top Ten: Glitter On The Charts

Manhunt Daily WeeklyTopTen

On last week's edition of the Weekly Top Ten, a little lady by the name of Pink made her debut, after a stellar performance at the 2010 Grammy Awards. Though she couldn't steal the number one spot from Lady Gaga, she managed to push back the rest of the competition one spot. Work it out, girl!

Unfortunately, the shift led to the departure of our dear friends Goldfrapp. Their song "Rocket" didn't make the cut, along with selections from Erykah Badu, Breaking Benjamin and Kaylah Marin. So much for expanding horizons! We even tried to inject the charts with a little hip-hop, modern rock and indie during our Wild Card round. But alas, there wasn't any hope for Ludacris, Shinedown or Jónsi.

If you're a Weekly Top Ten virgin, be prepared to rub some peanut butter on your taint. Or we could just tell you the rules… Each week you'll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three that you'd like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we'll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we saved and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week's charts.

So how do you get your favorite song on the list? Giving me a lapdance (a la Channing Tatum) might be a good start. Though you could just leave a comment with your suggestions for next week. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if it gives us goosebumps… you might see it here next time around!

To check out the charts and vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Lady Gaga – Bad Romance (LW – 1): We know, we know! You're all waiting for the moment that "Telephone" hits the charts, but there were too many good selections this week for us to unleash the big moment. Plus, we're still holding on to our hopes that the video will drop next week!
  2. Pink – Glitter In The Air (LW – 7): Can Pink keep up the momentum after enthusiasm for her Grammy performance has died down? It's impossible to say! This song debuted at number eighteen on the Billboard charts without even being announced as an official single. Will her record label take note, whip up a video and start promoting the hell out of it? We sure hope so.
  3. Sade – Soldier of Love (LW – 2): Now that Sade's album has finally been released (and it's absolutely amazing), show Ms. Adu some love by voting her to the number one spot. Considering the running themes on Soldier of Love, she seems like she could really use some untarnished love right now.
  4. Alicia Keys – Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart (LW – 4): Pardon my sloppy blogging! Last week, Alicia's link led to the video of her neck-and-neck competitor. Even with this small handicap, she managed to tie Mariah and take the number four spot.
  5. Mariah Carey f/ Nicki Minaj – Up Out My Face (Remix) (LW – 3): Speaking of Mariah, the lambs have clearly been slacking off, because she's on the brink of extinction right now. Your loyalty to your diva isn't impressing me! And if you won't do it for Mimi, do it for Nicki Minaj. She really made this song so much better.
  6. Lady Antebellum – Need You Now (LW – 9): I fucking hate it when people say they like "everything but country". How can you not love a song this beautiful? I'm even more obsessed now that I've realized it's about drunk-dialing someone. Don't act like you've never done it.
  7. Rihanna – Rude Boy (DEBUT): I've been waiting for this moment ever since Rated R came out. With its amazing dance groove, this song was made to be on our Weekly Top Ten charts. I'll be pushing "Hard" to get this one in the top five, and if I have to blow a few people to accomplish that goal…
  8. Robbie Williams – Morning Sun (WILD CARD): Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Robbie one of the only people who ever beat threw Gaga out of the number one spot? He rocked out with his cock out on "Bodies", but his second single "You Know Me" didn't make much of an impact. Will the third time be the charm?
  9. Utada – Dirty Desire (DEBUT): With a handful of awesome remixes, this mediocre offering from Utada's latest English-language release may have a chance. Does anyone else think she sounds totally cute when she's singing about being a dirty slut?
  10. David Guetta f/ Kid Cudi – Memories (DEBUT): Reactions were mixed when we posted this, but we can't ignore that David Guetta's been so good to us in the past. It's only fair to give this one a try, even if I still can't grasp these two artists' style merging in a cohesive fashion.

  1. How about “Will you be there” by Mimó. He’s Andy Bell from Erasure doing another solo project. Check the Seamus Haji Big Love Radio Edit. Is worth giving it a try for the Wild Card.

  2. HAD to vote for Sade. The woman’s uber-talented and only puts out killer music.
Also voted for P!ink, because that performance kicked some serious ass- and the song’s good too!
Decided to give Mariah my final vote mostly because of the expression on her face, but the song is also pretty decent.

  3. I just died when I saw Utada made it to the charts. Hopefully it’s for more than just one week.
I obviously voted for her as well as Rihanna and Lady GaGa. I also love P!nk but the song isn’t really a single and it’s number 2 so I don’t think she’ll need my vote.
