Weekly Top Ten: Gaga & Beyonce Stay Strong

music, gay, charts, countdown, weekly top ten, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, Kelis, Robin Thicke, Scissor Sisters, Katie Melua, Robyn, Macy Gray, Kimberly Cole, Ciara

After weeks of speculation that Christina Aguilera might steal Lady Gaga's spot on the Weekly Top Ten, it looks like everything has gone back to normal. Like it or not, "Telephone" simply can't be stopped on the countdown. You could probably start a campaign against it, and it'd still manage to get enough votes to stay on top.

Lindsay Lohan, Ellie Goulding, Diana Vickers, Grum and Taio Cruz are the latest victims to Gaga's rampage. Uffie and LCD Soundsystem didn't even get the opporunity to compete against her (not that they'd actually beat her), as they were both eliminated in the Wild Card round.

If you're a Weekly Top Ten virgin, get ready to loosen up that hole while I explain the rules to you. Each week you'll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three that you'd like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we'll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we save and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week's charts.

Wishing there was a "none of the above" option? Well, quit your bitching and tell us what you want to see on the charts by leaving a suggestion in the comments. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if we think it'll have a chance… you might see it here next time around!

To check out the charts and vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Lady Gaga f/ Beyonce – Telephone (LW – 1, W7): This week, I received my second call from a friend who converted from Gaga hater to die-hard fan. They blamed their change of heart on the music video for "Telephone", boasting that it even made them hate Beyonce a little less. That would explain why these two are on top for the sixth week in a row.
  2. Christina Aguilera – Not Myself Tonight (LW – 2, W4): When this song made its debut, it initially seemed like the wrong fit for Christina. Now it sounds like the type of song she was destined to sing. Get over the drama of all the Gaga comparisons, take off your clothes and just embrace how awesome this song is!
  3. Scissor Sisters – Invisible Light (LW – 7, W2): The Scissor Sisters offered up this teaser track from their upcoming album Night Work, and it has us desperately itching for the first official single. But we're not itching in a gross "you should have a doctor look at that" kind of way. It's more about being excited. Excited as fuck. Yeah, that's more like it.
  4. Kelis – Acapella (LW – 4, W4): Putting the poor promotion, label politics and ex-husband in the past, Kelis emerges as a dance diva on the first single from her new album Flesh Tones. She holds strong at the number four spot this week, but can she stay around much longer?
  5. Robin Thicke f/ Estelle – Rollacoasta (LW – 3, W5): For a moment, I was wondering how this song has managed to stay on the charts. And then I watched the music video again, and it made me wish I could lick my own taint. It should seriously be illegal for a man to have this much sex appeal.
  6. Katie Melua – The Flood (WILD CARD): Rather than save a song that doesn't stand a chance, we're taking this opportunity to call special attention to the most exciting new entry on the charts. It's a little more downtempo than the other selections, but don't hold that against it. The video for "The Flood" is truly compelling, with an overall combination of extremely gorgeous men and stellar visuals.
  7. Robyn – Dancing On My Own (DEBUT): Robyn throws some tears on the dance floor with the first single from her three-part album Body Talk. Full of desperation and longing, with enough of a beat to still get you stomping and gyrating your body.
  8. Macy Gray – Beauty In The World (DEBUT): Ever since discovering this song, I've been listening to it in the morning. It's a great way to start your day and truly appreciate the wonderful things that surround you. I know that sounds cheesy as fuck, but you can suck my dick if you don't agree. Well, I guess you can suck my dick even if you do agree.
  9. Kimberly Cole – Smack You (DEBUT): Say hello to my new theme song. Every now and then, we all feel the urge to smack a bitch. This song illustrates that point in the best possible way, and the beat is so addictive that we can't stop dancing. Give it a chance! We swear you'll love it.
  10. Ciara f/ Ludacris – Ride (WILD CARD): "Ride" is essentially the bastard child of Ciara's previous singles "Oh" and "Like A Surgeon". We're still undecided on how we feel about this song, so maybe we need to ride something while listening to it. And we're not talking about a beat…

  1. I went for Kelis, Christina and Macy Gray this week. Too bad for Diana Vickers not being around in the chart. I like the new David Guetta single “Getting Over”, but I prefer the newer version wit Fergie & LMFAO on it.
And for the Wild Card next week check out this UK rapper called Professor Green and his video for “Need you tonight” which samples INXS. It’s worth watching for that hottie Ed Drewett singing the hook. Where did he come from?

  2. Katie Meluas’ The Flood Is Amazing! Music, Video, & Lyrics Are Sheer Genius! I Can’t Wait To Listen To Any remixes that may Arise!

  3. i love “put in a love song” its in my mind
too bad it’s video will be out till summer, check it out dewitt

  4. ^ Its been mentioned plenty of times McKnight, but I don’t think it can be a contender on the charts until an officially video is being released ‘soon’.
