Weekly Top Ten: Britney Dances Till The World Ends

Hey Britney! You say you wanna rule the charts? Well, we have some good news for you. In the aftermath of Adele‘s “Rolling In The Deep”, Britney Spears has taken over our Weekly Top Ten with her addictive new single “Till The World Ends”.

Of course, some folks aren’t quite as lucky! Jennifer Lopez, Acid House Kings and Afrojack didn’t receive enough votes to stay on the countdown, so we had to send them packing along with Wild Card rejects Void Camp, Kristina Maria and Alyssa Reid. We wish them better luck with their next efforts.

So how does this all work? If you’re a Weekly Top Ten virgin, put yourself in the middle of this sandwick fuck while I explain the rules to you. Each week you’ll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for any and all that you’d like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we’ll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we save and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week’s charts.

Wishing there was a “none of the above” option? Well, quit your bitching and tell us what you want to see on the charts by leaving a suggestion in the comments. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if we think it’ll have a chance… you might see it here next time around!

– Dewitt

To check out the charts and cast your vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Britney Spears – Till The World Ends (LW – 3, W4): We can’t take it, take it anymore! Never felt like, felt like this before! So glad this song’s out on the floor! Get your votes in, what you waiting for? Whoa-uh-uh-uh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh! Whoa-uh-uh-uh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh… Need we say more on this topic?
  2. Adele – Someone Like You (LW – 2, W4): Adele came in eighty votes behind Britney, so you’ll need to vote a lot harder if you want to see her back on top. Then again, maybe you don’t want to see her back on top. Some of you have expressed that this song doesn’t pack the same punch as “Rolling In The Deep”. Sad face!
  3. Lady Gaga – Born This Way (LW – 4, W7): Will the brand sparkly new country road rendition of “Born This Way” launch Gaga back into first place? How about the remixes by Grum, Starsmith, Twin Shadow and several other artists? More importantly, does it really matter? Outside of these charts, this song is ruling the world’s butthole.
  4. Pink – Fuckin’ Perfect (LW – 6, W10): With ten weeks under her belt, Pink still remains a strong competitor! How’s that for fuckin’ perfect? While we had to save her last week, she eventually bounced back and tied the Glee Cast for fourth place. We’re still not sure whether to call it a comeback.
  5. Glee Cast – Loser Like Me (LW – 8, W2): Let’s be real. We knew we were going to wind up kicking ourselves for including this on the countdown. To be entirely honest, we’re surprised it didn’t perform even better than this. The gleeks must be too busy worshipping Chord Overstreet’s butt cheeks or something…
  6. Black Eyed Peas – Just Can’t Get Enough (LW – 7, W2): This was a tough decision! Oddly, we felt a strong desire to save Jennifer Lopez’s “On The Floor”, yet we have this sneaking suspicion that the Peas have more forward momentum at this very moment in time.
  7. Sky Ferreira – 99 Tears (DEBUT): Was there really only one comment on this post? You guys really need to start paying attention to Sky Ferreira. At some point, she’s going to take over the world. This may not be the song that makes it happen (even though it’s fucking amazing), but we promise you haven’t seen the last of her.
  8. John Legend – Rolling In The Deep (Adele Cover) (DEBUT): Usually, we object to including cover versions on the Weekly Top Ten. While this definitely isn’t better than Adele’s original track, we still think John Legend offered up a heartbreaking take on “Rolling In The Deep”. Plus, he’s so fucking sexy! We wouldn’t blame you if you vote for him just because he’s easy on the eyes.
  9. Rebecca Black – Friday (DEBUT): We’re obviously joking, right? Well, sort of. Having browsed through the bulletins on our brother site DList, we realized that people are still talking about this song. Last we checked, she’s still a trending topic on Twitter. Does Ms. Black have more staying power than we previously imagined? It’s impossible to say. Vote for the worst.
  10. Hyper Crush – Kick Us Out (WILD CARD): Yikes! This really wasn’t a good week for music, eh? Even though we were rooting for Void Camp’s wacko booty-filled music video in the Wild Card round, we guess we’ll settle for this clone of a Ke$ha and 3OH!3 collaboration. Realistically, it won’t last beyond this round…

  1. Yes! Till The World Ends is definately one of, if not my actual favourite track from Femme Fatale! hope it stays at #1!

  2. I have to say Till The World Ends has really grown on me. It’s still one of the weakest tracks on Femme Fatale but it’s just a great fun pop song to enjoy on the dancefloor!

  3. Adele’s ‘Rolling In The Deep’ has more attitude, but ‘Someone Like You’ is more heartwrenching. Someone Like You is also the only song I voted for this week. I have a feeling some rabid Britney fans are stacking the votes for her even though there are better songs on the list.

  4. I like Till the World Ends but didn’t vote for it so Adele and Gaga have a better shot at being #1.

Instead I gave my vote for Britney to Rebecca Black. What is wrong with me?

  5. Dewitt, Brit got almost 25% of the votes for her no.1 this week. I browsed all your weekly charts and maximum I could find for any previous number 1 was 22% (under the new system). Correct me if i’m wrong. Pretty impressive i’d say 🙂

To be honest, Till the world ends is one of my least favourite tracks on the album, hard to say why. But anyways, congratulations to Brit Brit!

  6. Congrats Britney!

Fans wil stick with you till the world ends!! ^^

    Femme Fatale, out this Tuesday!

  7. My most enthusiatic vote once again went to Loser Like Me. The other vote getters were Born This Way and Someone Like You.

  8. Seriously, Rebecca Black? And why include John Legend with a song that just spent 15 weeks in the chart?

Suggestions for next week on the Wild Card?

    – Alex Gaudino feat. Kelly Rowland: What a feeling

    – Chris Brown feat. Benny Bennasi: Beautiful people

    – Kylie Minogue: Put your hands up. This one is getting an Internet campaign to be released as a single and has a new retro remix by Pete Hammond. Check it on YouTube.

  9. I voted for Britney, BEP, Adele, Pink and Hypercrush. I totally love the new Kylie song. It’s the best track from Aphrodite. I hope it gets released soon as a single.

  10. Looks like Black Eyed Peas are failing again. Dew, you saved them from 7th place, and they are looking for something like 7th place again…

And OMG Rebecca Black is no.13 on iTunes chart. This song might be a huge joke, but i already know the lyrics to it. So sad and so funny at the same time.

  11. Whee, Rebecca Black! That song is so FUN, FUN, FUN, FUN! But seriously, this needs to be in top spot, if only because it’d be hilarious.

I love how you’re implying that Ke$ha and 3OH!3 are somehow original in the first place. You might want to look into that.

Still suggesting Reunited by Fan Death for the wild card. Quirky electropop? Quirky electropop!

  12. Guys – this Britney song is horrible. It really is, there is nothing to it. It has tanked on the charts in the uSA (#33) this week and even in Canada. People just dont wanna buy it and they dont want radio playing it.

The new adele song is a complete snoozefest.

I think Gaga, BEP, Pink are by far the best choices.

What about Jessie J – Price Tag for next week or an aural only.

  13. If that’s one of the weakest songs on the album, then I’m pretty excited for it to come out!

  14. people can bash Brit’s song all they like but there’s no denying that it’s currently sitting in the #1 spot.

  15. Price Tag by Jessie J was already here and it was given a second chance on the Wild Card, but the J-Lo song won that round.

  16. Ye, Price tag kinda failed 2 times already. To be honest, her Do It Like A Dude song is like 10 times better. But I think it was also given a chance here last year.

  17. I voted for Britney. She’ll have the #1 album this week hands down. I can’t wait for her new video. Katy Perry should make a comeback with ET since the video is coming out in the next week or so. The new remix of the Kylie song is very good, takes it back to the 80s when she worked with SAW (Stock, Aitken & Waterman).

  18. Britney’s song is sitting #1 on manhuntdaily – wow!!! That must mean it is a hit. In fact it has bombed! The 1st week it did mediocre in terms of sales, but now it has just plummeted. It is not a good song, catchy at points, but nowhere near the quality that she can produce. HIAM tanked even more after the video, so I am not holding much hope on TTWE doing any better. I of course am taling about the real charts of North American listeners here.

I have heard Femme Fatale is amazing! I am going to buy it on Tuesday, I just hope the other songs are not as bad as her 1st two.

But really guys, even die hard Britney fans, do you really thing TTWE was the best choice for a 2nd single? In 3 weeks going from 20-9-33. Doesnt sound like the best move by me.

Gaga has been #1 for 6 weeks in a row. Fuckin Perfect by Pink has been in the top 5 for the past 8 weeks. These are songs that people actually wanna buy and listen to on the radio.

  19. I have to agree with some of the above comments.

Till The World Ends is NOT a good song. As this is coming from a die hard Britney fan. Before itunes, I used to line up at record stores in the morning the day that her new CDs came out (I know, geek, right?) Haha.

Anyway, I am stoked about this new album, but I think Ms. Spears has let us down with this 2nd single. Other than that ohwoohwo part, it sounds like radar mashed up.

And whats up with releasing vids 6 weeks after the song comes out? Poor management on her or her team. Waiting that long for the Hold it video, cost her momentum in the end.

I refuse to download the leaked album. I want to buy the real thing.

Please please please tell me it is better than these 1st two releases. I am very unhappy with those 2 songs.

  20. Femme Fatale is great. I’ll be writing a review after Dewitt posts his own review here.

TTWE is a good song, maybe not great. It might have fallen from no.9 but if you know how charts work, you’ll know why. It had a boom moment during the first full week of release. Now that all the die hard fans bought the single, it needs time to grow on radio so that other people will hear it and start buying. It’s been slowly getting back the sales on itunes. It will definitely rise next week. But i’m almost certain the album release will affect the sales negatively for the week after that.

HIAM is a great song. But they lost the momentum with all those shitty video teasers. People just got bored of it. Nonetheless, it was growing on radio (top 5) until they released TTWE. Very little gap between the 2 singles.

  21. Love the top two songs, but I was tempted to not vote for Till the World Ends since i’ll probably get a ton anyways and Someone Like You is a better song, IMO. But I think you should add Revolver by Madonna and David Guetta. I’m not sure if it has been on the top ten yet

  22. Dewitt:

I know you hate Kesha, but are you going to be reviewing her new remix dance album? It is actually quite good, especially the remixes of Your Love is My Drug, Blow, Sleazy, and her new song Fuck Him He’s A Dj.

The album came out on Tuesday, and it’s called: I am the Dance Commander

  23. That new Kesha song is horrible…
She also jumps on the bandwagon of recent profanity in song titles.

    Fuckin Perfect
    Tonight I’m Fucking You
    Fuck You (Forget You)
    Fuck him he’s a DJ…

too much fucking for such a short period of time…

  24. Wats the matter? Not getting enough fucking on the radio? Lol

I want the new Kylie remix so bad. Check it out.

  25. @Nex – you think everyone is jumping on everyone elses bandwagon (except of course for your fave Britney). Haha.

The Kesha album is great and so is the new track – Fuck Him He’s A DJ. Kesha actually performed it live in early 2010 (you can youtube it). So perhaps Pink, Celo, and Enrique are jumping on the Kesha bandwagon.

Enjoy music for what it is. Have fun with it. That is what it is there for. Born This Way is not a rip off of Express Yourself. Kesha is not copying what other people are doing. I mean c’mon, in Till The World Ends, Britney sings “…dancing in the dark.” Are we gonna say that she copied that from Gaga’s “Dance In The Dark.” I mean lets be real. Enjoy music for entertainment. If you don’t like a song or artist, don’t download the song and turn the radio to the next station.

I love music. I love Kesha and Gaga and Britney and Kylie and Pink and them all. But let’s call a spade a spade, Britney is not revolutionary. Her songs are not original and/or unique, but they are fun and easy to enjoy.

  26. I also agree with Revolver by Madonna and David Guetta – it is old, never caught on in NA, but was huge in Europe. Plus it won a Grammy!

  27. lololololol Kirk. It’s a well established fact that Born This Way is an Express Yourself rip-off. go read online. wikipedia for both songs would be a good start.

Which Kesha album is great? The remix album? right….

Whether she performed it in early 2010 has nothing to do with releasing it now when we had so much ‘fucking’ already.

I never said Kesha is copying anyone, she is pretty unique. She just got an image of an annoying trashy bitch, which i don’t particularly like.

Gaga thinks she is god, and trying to create crazy followers and some ‘new race’, which i also don’t like.

Nonetheless, I like their music, both kesha’s and gaga’s.

Till the world ends sounds like most of Kesha songs (very disappointing), well-established fact too, cos kesha & dr.luke wrote it. So she is not copying gaga or bellamy brothers just cos there’s 1 similar line.

Britney is pretty unique at least most of the time, even rolling stone magazine acknowledged that. Where as gaga is a mish-mash of old things with way too much madonna recently. She’s got her crazy outfits, but that makes her nothing more than a clown rather than an artist.

    Don’t make stuff up plz.

  28. @LEO, unfortunately S&M left the countdown last week.

@Kirk, if you know anything about music business, then you’d know that there’s nothing strange about releasing a music video 6 weeks after the song premiered.

Until recently, songs were released way in advance before they were available for purchase. Video’s somehow followed in between most of the time and only then physical/digital release.

Now, high profile music superstars adopted a new on-air-on-sale strategy of releasing tracks digitally as soon as they are released to radio stations. That creates an initial boom thx to twitter & just the internet overall.

Videos somehow tag along a little bit later. I suppose they haven’t adopted an on-air-on-sale-on-screen strategy yet. But they might at some point.

However this on-air-on-sale strategy didn’t score very well in the UK yet. In the US we had ‘3’, ‘Hold it against me’ and ‘Born this way’ all starting at number 1, but none of them succeeded in the UK in this fashion.

I’m pretty sure Madonna will be doing this flash release with her new music. That’s what she did with 4 Minutes anyway, but she failed to get to no.1 unfortunately, because Mariah released her long radio-promoted Touch My Body during the same week + there was Bleeding love at its peak at the time. Has she released a week a two later, she’d be definitely looking at no.1. But i’m pretty sure this time they won’t make such miscalculations. Will be very fun to watch if Madonna breaks both gaga and britney records. Can’t wait.

  29. Britney is so damn sexy! She looks amazing! So the question needs to be asked: why is this album so damn unsexy? She is gorgeous and her body still rocks. Where has the sex appeal of her music gone? “How I Roll” is the one exception. That is a damn sexy song and I hope and pray it is released as a single. The rest of the album is kinda dull to me. I want her to bring sexy music back and stay away from dull safe tunes.

When Kesha (who is not attractive or sexy at all) can come up with music that is sexy, I am sure Brit can do. I can’t believe that Kesha’s music right now is more cutting edge, sexier, and better than Britney’s music. I am shocked that I had to admit that.
