Weekly Top Ten: A Whole Lot Of Change

music, gay, weekly top ten, charts, voting, selection, wild card, Lady Gaga, Sade, Alicia Keys, Roisin Murphy, Gabriella Cilmi, Dangerous Muse, Adam Lambert, Sugababes, Ellie Goulding, Peaches

When it's time to change, you've got to rearrange. Manhunt Daily's Weekly Top Ten charts experienced quite the shake-up in the past week. Lady Gaga's still at the top, but only one song from the previous top five made it onto today's list. And it's only sticking around because we saved it!

Unfortunately, we couldn't save everything. Ke$ha, Jason Aldean, Janet Jackson and Jay-Z couldn't manage to keep it up, so we kicked them out of our place and told them to never call again. We didn't even invite Kiely Williams or Gorillaz into our bedroom, as they both were eliminated in the Wild Card round.

If you're new to the Weekly Top Ten, start lubing yourself up as I explain the rules. Each week you'll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three moving to the next week. From those results, we'll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we saved and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week's charts.

So what do you have to do to get your favorite song on the list? Well, now that you're all lubed up, I can think of a few things… but you might prefer just leaving a comment with your suggestion. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if it turns the party out… you might see it here next week!

To check out the charts and vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Lady Gaga – Bad Romance (LW – 1): Well, there's absolutely no debate regarding the gay anthem of winter. We don't even remember how many weeks Gaga's spent in this spot. And no, we're not going to retire her any time soon. As long as you guys keep voting her to the top, she's sticking around.
  2. Sade – Soldier of Love (LW – 8): Wow! Fueled by the release of her excellent music video, Sade made quite the comeback in this past week. Do you think Ms. Adu and her crew will be able to keep it up? I sure hope so! When the new album drops, I'll be first in line to pick it up.
  3. Alicia Keys – Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart (LW – 10): Sade's not the only one who's making a comeback. After not even making it onto the charts in the Wild Card round, Alicia Keys has jumped from the number ten spot to third place. Guess this one grew on you over time?
  4. Roisin Murphy – Momma's Place (LW – 6): I may have shoved this one down your throats, but you seem to be enjoying it now. Pause. I've been listening to this every day since it leaked, and I'm not getting anywhere close to being sick of it. Could a song be any better?
  5. Gabriella Cilmi – On A Mission (LW – 7): I was worried that Cilmi wouldn't be making it to the top five! Considering that I'm obsessed with this song, I obviously would have saved it from a all-too-soon demise. But don't let my promises of redemption stop you from voting for this song! We need to get this girl to the top.
  6. Dangerous Muse – I Want It All (LW – 3): For a while, it looked like these guys would have a chance of dethroning Gaga, but they had a pretty bad time this past week. Luckily, Ke$ha and Janet Jackson had already done their time in the number six spot, so they were a shoo-in for the "saved" slot. Can they pick it up and get back into the top five? Maybe their remix of "Bad Romance" will help.
  7. Adam Lambert – Whataya Want From Me (DEBUT): We've tried to make Adam happen twice in the past couple of months. He didn't do too poorly with "For Your Entertainment", but he bombed with "Time For Miracles". Perhaps this is his time to shine? A few of you were really feeling this song, even if I slammed it for lacking personality.
  8. Sugababes – Wear My Kiss (WILD CARD): Well, congratulations on getting this one on the charts. I don't have high hopes for its survival, but I suppose I don't have high hopes for the Sugababes in general. Without any of the members of their original line-up, they might as well have changed their name and moved on. It's like Destiny's Child without Beyonce!
  9. Ellie Goulding – Starry Eyed (DEBUT): Of all the new entries this week, this is the one that I'm most excited about. Will you vote it into the top five for me? I promise to pay you back with sexual favors, as long as we're listening to this song while I'm blowing you.
  10. Peaches – Mommy Complex (WILD CARD): Another deliciously nasty number from the queen of all things deliciously nasty. This isn't an official single, but Peaches has pulled a B'Day and made videos for every song on her latest album I Feel Cream. This has to be one of my favorites!

  1. Yes there are no original members of “The Babes,” but the first two members of the group left willingly and the 3rd and final original member was let go because she was incredibly difficult. This line up seems to get along extremely well and no one seems to be fighting for the mic during interviews. “Wear My Kiss” is AWESOME and long live the Sugababes!

  2. The chart doesn’t look gay to me at all. It’s becoming more and more alternative. Bring some dance records back into the list. I voted for the Sugababes only because the song it’s starting to grow on me, but don’t see it sticking long enough.
The one I recommend this week is Sophia May’s “Come Back”. Already a top 10 hit on the Billboard Dance Airplay chart.

  3. I’m on this mission with you!!!
I hope it sticks around – it’s a very fun and hot song. 🙂

  4. Holy shit, Alicia Keys made it on MH’s Weekly Top 10?!
I can die a happy gay man now.
My votes went to the same three songs last week.

  5. Umm, wow?
Last time I checked the poll results it was in this order with 200 voted:
    1. Lady Gaga
    2. Sade
    3. Alicia Keys
    4. Adam Lambert
    5. Dangerous Muse
Then I check back and 300 people voted and the order changed to:
    1. Lady Gaga
    2. Sade
    3. Roisin Murphy
    4. Ellin Goulding
    5. Gabriella Cilmi
Not to mention the latter three all had percantages under 10%.
Either these polls are rigged or these polls are rigged. But whatever, congratulations to the top 5.
