We Interrupt Your Regularly Scheduled Penises…

Lady Gaga‘s “Judas” has officially leaked been released to iTunes. While we don’t usually throw everything aside midday for random music posts, exceptions need to be made for the current queen of gay-ass dance pop. Plus, we really don’t want to hear anyone queening out that it’s not on tomorrow’s Weekly Top Ten.

There were certain elements of this song that were entirely grating upon our first listen. Oddly enough, those same elements kept us coming back for more. This is easily Gaga’s most catchy song since “Poker Face”. We’ve yet to come to a conclusion of whether it’s catchy in a good way or catchy like a venereal disease. Thoughts?

  1. Sounds interesting and probably will grow on me. Found most of the lyrics interesting:

    In the most Biblical sense,
    I am beyond repentance
Fame hooker, prostitute wench, vomits her mind
    But in the cultural sense
I just speak in future tense
    Judas kiss me if offenced,
Or wear an ear condom next time

    I wanna love you,
But something’s pulling me away from you
    Jesus is my virtue,
Judas is the demon I cling to
    I cling to

The video for this should be interesting, Gaga is portraying Mary Magdalene.

  2. Better than “Born This Way” and I love the pounding beat, but I don’t think it’s even close to being as good as her last album’s stuff. I think she’s already over-saturated the market with her whole trip, and personally, I’m kind of over it. I’m sure it will be huge anyway, of course.

  3. Eh. As a Lady Gaga fan, I’d give it a 7 (generously, a 7.5). There are certain aspects that I want to hear again and again, but all in all… I’m conflicted.

  4. I like it, it is catchy. Great concept, a guy who betrays you yet still has your love. I hope the video isn’t an Alejandro part 2 and she doesn’t take the religious undertones too far.

  5. Agreed 100% I was a fan when she was her own person, with her own sound. This whole recycled madonna crap is lame. But people mindlessly love her shit, so oh well.

  6. It’s ok. It doesn’t make me want to say girl do you. For some reason I was expecting something grander than this. Maybe it was the Gaga Hype Machine that let me down.

  7. I love it! if anything its another example of how good she is at wordplay and the wailing is because Judas is a lover who’s betrayed her. I think it’ll grow on everyone

  8. excellent… shame about the retarded god shit shes spouting at the moment, who wants tooth fairy songs? but given that, it is an excellent track

  9. i agree, i love the track, but jesus and god didnt even exist

gaga is amazing and this track is better than born this way, but enough god shit now gaga, when you die thats it… get over it, this planet isnt special, our sun is not special, our galaxy is run of the mill, and of the 14 billion years the universe has been here, humans have been around for just a blip. if there WAS some big point to the universe, its totally no way us!!! we are like the ant you trod on 16 years ago and never thought of again…

  10. I am offended by this – she is making light of that poor man who tried to help his mentally ill schizophrenic friend, making 7 pieces of silver to have his gay lover jeebus treated for his mental hearing voices…

this is the first fictional gay mental health love story and gaga is jumping on the bandwagon just like that hooker mary did – they were gay you stupid bint

  11. The jury is still out 4 me on this one has a very catchy beat but I am just not hooked on this one ( not yet anyways ) and half through the song has me reminiscent back 2 Madonna

  12. omg. this track is so noisy. it hurts my ears on first listen….

aaaaaa-aaaa typing as listening. need to turn the volume down.
    her vocals are so over-processed…

cant give an opinion yet, only that it hurts my ears. too many noises. and i thought born this way/express yourself was noisy… hell no.

and definitely have to agree with a few posters on here who commented about the religious theme. she should stop doing madonna. madonna did it in the late 80’s. it was shocking back then. now it’s just irritating. it’s 21st century. get over the religious shit.

  13. ok, now that i put the volume down and listened to the lyrics a bit:

she is so desperate for some harsh remarks from the catholic church. she begs for a scandal. so cheap.

  14. AMAZING!!!!

I knew @nex would hate it! He pretends he likes Gaga, but then attacks her.

This is edgy and cutting edge – like pop music should be. Unlike washed up 29 year old has beens!

  15. lol @Nathan if u read my comment i said i have no opinion yet. It’s noisy, but that’s not a complete opinion about the song.

I expressed my dislike for doing Madonna once again and going for Like A Prayer religious theme, but I suppose you imagined my hate, never mind.

Love your review by the way: it’s EDGY and cutting EDGE.

Anyway, now my thoughts about the song:

  16. Stop comparing everything to Madonna. Wow – how can you be a fan of Britney if you hate peeps that try to immitate Madonna.

This song is great! The music at the beginning is a much to take it, but then when the chorus hits you just wanna keep listening to it.

It is unique, edgy, and totally great! Everyone on itunes, youtube and gaga’s site are loving it.

It wont be huge on radio, maybe a top 10, but nothing huge. It is just a great song. Unique, different, dancy, tribal, and great!

  17. Oddly enough this song sounds like a mix of Bad Romance and Till the World Ends.

After several listens, now I can certainly say it has got a really good chorus.

    Start to finish:

The starting bit is identical to Bad Romance ‘ra ra ra’ part with slightly different ‘words’, but still same sound. She even got ‘gaga’ here as well.
Then the noisy sounds kick in and you realize that it’s nowhere near the epicness of Bad Romance.
Random screams throughout the verse, very irritating.
Then comes the chorus: the most clear and less-noisy part of the song.
Ra Ra Ra part again. Followed by extra noises and screams. Chorus etc.
    Noisy break.
Some spoken religious crap bridge. Something about prostitutes. Nothing shocking, just desperate.
Followed by chorus and then Ra Ra Ra again.

Verdict: desperate attempt to return to Bad Romance sound without being too much Bad Romance, while incorporating every possible electro sound out there and mixing it all with late 80’s Madonna style religious themes.

Disappointed once again. Expected something better. Born This Way was Express Your Vogue copy. And now this… I don’t know what to call it. It’s not totally crap. It has a nice infectious chorus & a short hook that follows the chorus. But other than that, it is ruined by the extra noisiness and too-Bad-Romancy ‘ra ra ra’ part. Pretty unoriginal, especially the whole religious theme. Very disappointed with the religious theme. Trying to hard to be Madonna.

C’mon GaGa, you can do better than that.
3 stars out of 5 thanks to the nice chorus.

  18. @Nathan, i’m not really a Britney fan or a fan of anyone else for that matter. I’m not comparing everything to Madonna. Kesha, Katy Perry, Rihanna etc have nothing to do with Madonna, but Lady GaGa on the other hand is always up there selling herself as unique and original, while being nothing more than a LadyMadonnaWannaBe.

    My short history of GaGa:

Loved Just Dance. Didn’t really know there was any hype about her at all. Put it at no.4 on best songs of 2008 on my year-end chart.

Listened to Poker Face once in 2009, dismissed it altogether as a Boney M’s ‘My Baker’ wannabe for the identical ‘ma ma ma ma’ sound and ignored it for a long time.

Watched Eh Eh (Nothing comes…) video didn’t like it at all.

Lovegame came out. I thought it was ok, never been a fan of it.

Paparazzi, i kinda missed it altogether, wasn’t really following gaga.

Boom. Bad Romance. Epic song. Best song of 2009 on my list. Totally following gaga, discovered Paparazii, loved it. Gave Poker Face a chance, but still couldn’t get rid of Ma Baker sound, but thought it was a good song overall if u dont mind the ‘ma ma ma ma’ part.

Telephone. Loved it, awesome & fun music video.

Alejandro. Ok song. Rubbish music video, desperate for religious attention.

Born This Way. Boom. WTF? Express Yourself? Are you kidding me? Big disappointment.

Judas. WTF? So noisy. Religious theme again… so cheap. Disappointed again.

Not really a hater, am I? I think I’m just rational. Not blind like some fans who would say ‘amazing’ even if their favourite star farts into a microphone.

  19. This song was weird…It has a good beat but eh…
+I can’t wait to see what blasphemous acts she puts into her video for this song.

  20. wow
    wow
    wow

This is incredible. I cannot get the chorus out of my head.

This song shows amazing growth in all aspects of her music. To go from Just Dance to Judas in such a short period of time. Gaga is the real deal and is here to stay. She just keeps getting better!

I do agree that this won’t make a huge splash on radio, but as an artist this must be one of her fave songs.

    Pure magic!

  21. 1st 20 seconds I was like “what the eff?”

But now, OMG, most incredible piece of music out right now.

Shit, was eating dinner out tonight and I kept singing the chorus out loud!

Can’t believe I have to wait another month for the CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. 3 out 5 die hard blind gaga fans spoke out already and obviously according to them it’s the best piece of music out there. how predictable. wow wow wow, omg, omfg.

  23. I heard to the song once and it’s OK, but I need to listen to it more to have a proper opinion. So far, the second half of the song is the best part. What I don’t like is that she wants to push religious boundaries here and with Easter just around the corner. If the rumors are true, she’s supposed to play Mary Magdalene in the video and that just looks like a Madonna-type attempt to pick a fight the Catholic Church. We’ll see what the future brings for Judas or if Gaga herself becomes a traitor to her own little monsters.

  24. great song! i dont know what the hells she saying though, i need to put this on my ipod so i can listen to it while im not distracted by the glow of the computer screen.

  25. This song might be ok if one could actually understand what she is saying. Therefore, I had to look up the lyrics to figure out what she was saying. And as it turns out, someone didn’t do her homework. Too bad it was Peter who denied Jesus three times. Not Judas. Get your biblical allusions right, Lady Gaga!

  26. I’m not really impressed. I think her first album sounds better, at least from what I’ve heard of her upcoming album, anyway. It seems to me that now she’s trying to be weird and out there JUST to be weird and out there….like the more fame she has, the odder she has to be. More power to her if that’s how she chooses to express herself, but it seems more calculated than honest.

  27. …I do think that was the implication, especially if you think this is her best song. It’s ok though you aren’t the only mindless one.

  28. Gaga sucks!!!
She’s not the same anymore, she’s getting weirder and weirder thats too much
Upside down red cross on Alejandro, Horns, Judas (the Betrayal of Jesus Christ).

Like what is this bitch doing?

  29. After only 3 days of release, debuted at #30 on pop charts. Very impressive. Not as big as Born This Way, but had 1/2 day less release time and not as radio friendly.

    Wait to go Gaga!

  30. Please, stop worshiping her. Check out this tumblr if you have any desire for an intellectual, necessary critique of Gaga. Just because we’re gay, doesn’t mean we like her. This blog should consider posting something other than Gaga worship.

  31. I love Gaga! but i have hear this song more than 20 times and i think is bad a combination of Bad Romance And Paparazzi! 🙁 is not worth to get it! is not a single! is more like a CD filler :/ well nobody is perfect lets hope the Album is way better *Paws Up* u Go Gaga!

  32. #10 on Billboard Hot 100!

    Congrats!

Not nearly as big as the debut single from a new album, but still very impressive numbers. It’s only gonna get higher next week.

It’s also her 3rd highest debut song!

    #9 – Bad Romance
    #1 – Born This Way
    #10 – Judas

  33. “Paws Up, Little Monsters”!!! I mean…who the hell is she talking to? A bunch of 9 year olds or what? If we as adult, educated men fall for that crap, we are neither adult nor educated. She’s just another pop star machine cranking out as much product as she can and making as much money as she can ’til her replacement comes along. It’s OK to like it and dance to it and even buy it, but just realize, my friends, we are all being had!

  34. some people like it some people dont. gay or not, you have the right to your opinion. i like this song, and i dont care if the cool thing now is to hate on gaga.
