Vote For The Weekly Top Ten Wild Card

What defines the sound of summer? Is it a blaring club jam that leaves you sweatier than you’ve ever been? Or a laid-back tune about throwing back a beer or two? Don’t expect any answers from me! It’s up to you to decide which of these songs should compete for the title of “Song of Summer” on Manhunt Daily‘s Weekly Top Ten.

This week’s Wild Card round features music by The Saturdays, Billy Currington, Ciara and Erika Jayne. You have two days to vote for your favorite selection, so take a listen and make your decision before it’s too late! And if you don’t like any of these choices, feel free to leave a comment with a suggestion for next week.

To listen to the songs and cast your vote, follow the JUMP:

The Saturdays – Missing You: Well, no one’s going to remember this song in ten years, eh? At the very least, this British girl group did us the favor of lip-synching their latest single on a beach, so it’ll at least be partially justified if they make a bid for the “Song of Summer” title.

Billy Currington – Pretty Good At Drinkin’ Beer: I know what you’re thinking. Why am I trying so hard to get a country song on the charts? Technically, I didn’t have any intentions of doing so, but then I heard this song by Billy Currington. Can you blame me for loving beer?

Ciara – Gimme That: She was gone for too long, and it’s nice to see that she’s brought it back! Honesty, I was losing faith in Ciara’s ability to create booty-shaking jams, but she proved me wrong with this new track. While it may be a little repetitive and sparse in the lyrical department, there’s no denying the dancefloor potential.

Erika Jayne – Pretty Mess: As a general rule, I try to avoid songs in which people refer to themselves as a “princess”. To maintain a positive angle while talking about this selection, let’s just focus on the hot male model in the music video.

  1. It also doesn’t hurt that Billy Currington is hot as unholy hell and has posed in Playgirl.

  2. hmm….Billy Currington looking pretty sexy. He posed for Playgirl..would not mind seeing those pics!!!

  3. The saturdays could fill a void in the market that was left by Destiny’s Child, Danity Kane, etc. The beat is pretty smooth and mellow

The Billy Currington song really isn’t my bag. Like country music, but not into alcohol or people singing about it.

That Ciara song has a nice beat, she’s kinda in a weird space right now. Her first ever single was “Goodies” it was a fun and flirty age appropriate single. She’s now moved to alot sexier style of dress and music.
She’s kind of like a product of producers and songwriters, but who is the real Ciara? What does she think about love, life, the world and its peoples? That’s the artist that I want to know. In my opinion it’s not too late for her. If she takes a couple years off, continues vocal training, learns to write her own music, etc then she could really get somewhere. She can also parlay that success into bringing along other groups. Maybe a girl group or something.

  4. after seeing Erika Jayne in Florida at Gay Days, the song has started to grow on me. the dave aude remix is much better though….keeps the song flowing and is generally a higher energy level song. she is pretty cool though

  5. The Saturdays song would make a hot remix. All it needs is the thumping dance track replacing the sleepy groove they’ve got goin’ here.

  6. I went with The Saturdays. There’s already a remix out (Cahill Remix) and it’s pretty good to make you dance. Since Girls Aloud and The Sugababes have an uncertain future in the UK pop landscape, The Saturdays look like the next big girl group in that scene.

  7. Hot song that I can see a lot people might actually like:

Christian TV – When She Turns 18

    Summer Hit maybe?
