You know how sometimes sixty-nining just doesn’t work out? Even if you’re with a hot guy and he sucks cock like a pro, there are times when your mutual-pleasure endeavors are less than magical. It seemed like a good idea, right? That’s kind of how I feel about the music video for “Video Phone”.
As proven by their two collaborations, pairing Beyonce and Lady Gaga together is like putting together two extremely dominant power tops. They’re not really sure what to do with one another, and whether or not they’re consciously doing it… they wrestle for our attention, trying to prove that they’re more fabulous than the other party.
When I say that this video is a “hot mess”, I almost mean that as a compliment. It’s ambitious on an aesthetic level, continuing Beyonce’s trend of music video simplicity while adding a dash of fantasy and color. In the end, it’s kind of just a weirdo fashion show set to a mediocre song. Yeah, I said it.
Now let’s address two other points. What the fuck is up with Beyonce trying to channel Betty Paige? I had to do a double-take, because I was wondering who this random-ass white girl was in their video. Speaking of random-ass white girls, how ridiculous does Lady Gaga look in this? I love this bitch, but she looks like her own crackhead drag-queen impersonator. And surprisingly, it’s actually an amazing look for her.

I think the video is okay… There where a lot of elements I liked in it. It just doesn’t feel cohesive in some parts. It has a little too much going on, and if I think if they would have toned down some sections it would have been better. Still not a horrible video and I do enjoy. I just know it could have been better.

I have to completely agree with the whiter girl part. When I first saw Beyonce looking like that I thought it was like a Katy Perry cameo or something.
The issues is that Beyonce and Lady GaGa do very different types of music videos. And dance in very different ways and for whatever reason the director of this one just couldn’t make them work together. Like Leo said it was good just not cohesive.

lol..the part of them dancin together in the white outfits was just cruel…they tried to do the whole Beyonce/Shakira sexy twin thing but didnt work with Gaga…Gaga standing and trying to dance next to Beyonce looked like ..i dunno…just SAD.

I agree, this was horrible in terms of music and Lady Gaga seemed awkward and out of her element.
However, the many looks of Beyonce and the way she pull it off with such confidence was awesome!
I believe that Beyonce is the better dancer and everyone knows it. So of course her and gaga together in a video will not work well unless it was crazy ass gaga meets gheto ass beyonce. That would be epic. Together they could make some sick ass tracks though…

Let’s not blame Gaga for this mess…it is Beyonce’s mess. Terrible song to begin with she just knew without Gaga on it no one would care…Why did Beyonce even want this song released? It is god-awful.

Uhm… GaGa looks hot as H*LL!!! The song is ‘ok’. Then again, I feel the same way about ‘Single Ladies’. Beyonce has better music. I blame the song, but the video is pretty decent, except for all the colors they use – looks like a parrot blew up on the production notes and they ran with it.
Perhaps if the song weren’t stupid and pointless as all hell, then the video could have been better. Alas, Beyonce cannot record songs that make sense. I’m disappointed in Gaga for getting involved with this mess. She has more talent in one of those Saturnine rings around her head than Beyonce does in her entire body.
