Truck Drivin’ Art Critic Lady Takes Down Blowjob Jesus Painting

Tell em’ Large Marge sent ya! Montana truck driver Kathleen Folden wasn’t thrilled with a blasphemous painting depicting Jesus receiving oral sex from a man, so she took a crowbar to it.

According to local news reports, artist Enrique Chagoya’s “The Misadventures of Romantic Cannibals” was on display in Loveland, Colorado until Folden got at it. The Montana resident reportedly used a crowbar to smash the painting’s glass case while screaming “How can you desecrate my lord?” as she shredded the work.

She was arrested on charges of criminal mischief and faces a $1,000 – $2,000 fine.

“I’ve never had this kind of violent reaction to my art. Violence doesn’t resolve anything,” the artist commented. Well, it certainly resolved the problem of us not knowing who you are. Merely insinuating that the son of God liked receiving head from dudes wasn’t cutting it. You might want to thank her.

  1. i don’t blame her at all. Depicting a religious figure in a sexual act is highly disrespectful. It’s like this guy years back who did a painting/collage of the Virgin Mary with animal feces for paint and cut out asses fluttering around her like angels or something. Then he was surprised people were offended and an older Catholic man ruined it. Artists only do stuff like that for publicity.

  2. why is religious mythology sacred? Enrique has every right to express himself in whatever way he chooses, especially if it offends misplaced sensitivity.

    fuck religion and fuck god

  3. So.. if you find something disrespectful, OpalLion, that makes it okay to destroy it? That’s the kind of thug mentality that causes so much death in the gang community – someone feels “disrespected” and he blows the guy away.

If you don’t want to be offended by something, then don’t go.

  4. Yeah, I consider Christine O’Donnell a desecration to a sane political discourse but would certainly never take a hammer to her. You have to live with all kinds. Violence is never the answer.

  5. If you are not willing to adhere to certain social norms in society such as the sanctity of certain figures then you are simply wishing to live outside of that social construct and all of its benefits.

Humans create societies and cities, bonding together to make life easier bringing everyone water, electricity, roads, etc. The other side of that is respecting others opinions even if you don’t agree with them.

You may not believe in the sanctity of the catholic religion, I myself do not, but their are enough people in your society that do to give it some form of social protection. The bottom line is if you don’t want to respect (I am not saying agree as well), the norms of your society then are you willing to give up the benefits that come with being a part of it?

  6. Well, she certainly has every right to be offended at the artwork. Personally, as a Christian, I’d probably be offended myself, but I also wouldn’t go out of my way to view it.

But taking offense at someone else’s artistic expression doesn’t give me or anyone else the right to destroy it. I agree that the artist probably did it to intentionally provoke people or to get attention. Still…..that doesn’t give anyone the right to destroy it.

  7. who decides what is offensive? should we really assume one offensive act covers all spectrums of society?

some people would be offended if the picture was just that of a guy getting head, Jesus or not…. that kind of thinking, that there r things that need to be respected justify hate crimes….

artistic expression falls under free speech…. u may not like it, but guess what? we live in a world where multiple ways of thinking have to co-exist….. u don’t like it? don’t go to the museum, keep looking at the pictures on ur TV that teach u to consume and not think…….

  8. Good for her. She did something RIGHT. Too many people are “afraid” of offending the “politically correct” creeps, that they do nothing. If she is in need of a lawyer, please let us ALL know. Would like to contribute to her defence.

  9. I’ll bet you money that Enrique doesn’t have the balls to paint Mohamed in the same way.

  10. I am not condoning the action of Ms. Folden, but Chagoya should have expected that many people, whether they are Christians or not, would find his painting grossly offensive. He is no different than the idiot in Florida who wanted to burn Qurans, or the Westboro Baptist Church (‘God hates fags”) demonstrators at funerals. If he really wants to stir up a strong reaction, he should do a painting of the prophet Mohammed receiving a blow job from Osama bin Ladin.

  11. All these people and places that religion makes scared is for the believers, not being a believer in the fairy tale, I could less how an artist expresses themselves.
Being gay I see how we are expressed by ignorant Homophobes everyday, and those are the same a-holes that belive the fairy tale.

Why would any Homosexual want to be part of a religious group that doesn’t want them or belives that your a sinner, is beyond me.

I’d love to see this artist do a picture of the Mohammed getting a blow job or fucked up the ass from one of his belivers ,I be the first one there to protect the artist, and kill the first idiot to raise a knife.

  12. Do I agree with the way she went about this? No, I don’t. It was radical and crazed. However, I would also be offended by something like this. By him painting something like that shows that he wasn’t trying to be artistic. It’s a dissrespectful image, and done to show a deep underlying hate towards those who believe in God. We all here are gay, and those who are taking up for him. Would you all be so supportive if it was an image that was dissrespectful to us as a gay community? No you wouldn’t You would be sickened by the image and happy someone destroyed it. That was somethijng that went far beyond just being offensive. I’m all for free speech and everyones right to live life their own way, but there does have to be some line drawn or else we are just a bunch of moronic idiots with no respect for anyone or anything. How do you expect to get respect if you aren’t willing to give it in return.

  13. These comments are amazing.

Just shows how brainwashed everyone is by organized religion.

Is the picture tasteless, most likely. Would it offend some people, yes. Does the fact the it would offend some people mean he shouldn’t have created it, no.

It just a picture. If you truly believe in Jesus, then this art piece would not make you believe less.

  14. Brainwashed? Not me. And the art doesn’t make me believe less. It DOES, however, offend me. I don’t condone her actions, but if it were done to the Allah, the artist himself would not be alive or at least have a price on his head.

  15. ToddM

I see your point but I’m confused where you stand. Would like for there to be a price on his head?

  16. God loves all even gays,v all r his children.just bcoz christians follow the path of god n stay calm does not mean that anyone can abuse us.if that idot painter would hav painted any islamic, hindu, buddhist religious figure he really would hav been murdered that same day.

im a gay ,but i condemn this stupidity of that painter,no1 has any right to misuse anyone’s image if u want paint your ownself.

shame on him.just bcoz its USA he cud do it if he wud hav been in Asia,he wud hav been kidnapped n brutally mudered by torture.

respect others feeling to b a better human,
god does not hate gays ,everyone in this world is a sinner beliv in him n u wud b saved

.he died on the cross for us all ,i hav protestant faith.

  17. Her reaction was extreme. She could have sent a letter or an email expressing her opinion.

I wouldn’t enjoy seeing one of the virgin goddesses(Such as Artemis) engaging in sexual acts though. Christians believed Jesus was virginal, so them being upset over something like this is understandable. But smashing the glass case and destroying the art work? Crazy.

  18. More importantly, am I Missing something?? Who’s J. Harvey? Has he (or she) replaced Andy? What’s going on?!

Welcome, though, I like your columns though, there’s only so many hot naked guys you can look at

  19. The comments about Islam are slightly off beam. Islam holds Jesus to be a great prophet and would be as offended by this depiction of Jesus receiving fellatio as any Christian.

My view is that if you set out to shock, you can’t be surprised when a shocked person trashes your offering.

If you don’t like Christianity don’t engage with it. Don’t give it oxygen.

  20. I don’t want a price on his head! Not at all! I’m just saying that had he done this to Allah, that would be the case.

No, I’m not a radical. Sorry for the confusion!

  21. I couldn’t help but laugh at all the butthurt christfags commenting about how offended they are. It’s ridiculous to get all bent out of shape by this, it’s art, it’s expression, it’s ment to push the boundaries and take people out of their comfort zone. That, in my opinion, is what makes art amazing and something that should be cherished. Also, to the people saying that there should be a line drawn with artistic free speech, I have this to say, either everything is sacred or nothing is. I am for the latter.

Also, get out and stop sitting at your T.V. sets, you’re being taught to consume, and consume, and consume. Don’t follow a fairy tale that attempts to replace history and control everything. Think for yourself and ignore/avoid anything you may not like.

  22. Seriously guys lets face the fact that what Chagoya painted was just plain disrespectful. And I know that some people dont believe in religion and that’s fine but please refrain from cursing it out as other do believe that there may be a higher power.

…I myself don’t think it is right to desecrate a religious symbol simply because you don’t agree or to prove a point. That is really horrible to me (it is not practising tolerance). In this case with Christianity, I know that some people who follow it, do go crazy and abuse others because they believe they are doing “right” by their religion. But not everyone who practices believes that, and I think people should respect others and acknowledge that people do worship Jesus and he is a “Holy” character in their eyes. So they can simply go out and paint such disrespectful things.

In regards to those who were talk about not liking people and that they do go out and harm that person….the woman (Folden) destroyed the painting, I’m pretty sure she doesn’t like the guy, but she too didn’t go out and harm him either. (find a better comparison). And don’t use her actions and put them on the same level as gang violence. Really not cool.

  23. (for those big on grammar, I’m sorry about my mistakes…)

In regards to those who were talking about not liking people and that they don’t go out and harm that person they dislike…
…the woman (Folden) destroyed the painting, I’m pretty sure she doesn’t like the guy, but she too didn’t go out and harm him either. (Find a better comparison). And don’t use her actions and put them on the same level as gang violence. Really not cool.

  24. For those who are so into it being ok to blatantly dissrespect a Holy image, how in the world are we ever to get people to respect us a gay men and women, accept us, and allow us rights if we are so eager to treat others the same way that we hate to be treated. You logic is that oh well, it’s free speech and because they don’t believe in God it’s ok. Yet those same people cry fowl if someone says you can’t get married because you’re the same sex etc. I mean if you’re not willing to stand up for the feelings of things that are sacred to others, then how on earth are we supposed to expect anyone to stand up for us and that which we deem as sacred?

  25. As a fellow Montanan, I would like to say I’m proud of her!
Were usually rough and tumble up here, and drunk also.

No joke. I believe we have highest underage drinking statistics per capita here in montana, thats what the class I took said after I got my MIP anyway

    GO MONTANA!

p.s. No publicity is bad publicity, right?

  26. To go along a little bit with James’ post, why is it ok for everyone to use “Jesus Christ” as a swear word? I never see “Holy Allah” or “Mohammed Damn it”, or any other gods’ names used as swear words on this site or anywhere for that matter…. If He is just a myth, why do you swear by Him so much? Or use his name as a cuss word? Could you explain that to me? I’m really curious. Not being smart.

  27. I love how we can be having an intelligent conversation and someone just has to come on here and be a jerk. I mean, Really? If He’s not real, why does it bother you? Move on then!

  28. OK, let’s draw a few comparisons here. The basic argument in favor of this crazy bitch is that (a) this piece of artwork is disrespectful to certain religious groups and thus (b) people in that religious group or who support it are justified in vandalizing that artwork (which doesn’t belong to them) because they are offended.

Let’s imagine for a moment that I belong to a denomination which takes the prohibition against “graven images” literally: that any human-created image of God is an abomination before him. I’m thus highly offended by crucifixes, the Pieta, and any other depiction of God in human form. Am I thus justified in going into every Catholic Church and smashing the crucifixes? Should I be permitted to enter the Vatican Museum and take a hammer to Michelangelo’s Pieta? After all, they are “offensive” to me and certainly there’s clear Biblical justification for MY perspective.

More off the wall: Let’s say I belong to a sect that believes the color blue is sacred and should only be used reverently. Can I burn down your house because it’s blue and it offends me that you used the color in a non-sacred manner?

More realistically, a lot of fundamentalist Christians are highly offended by gay cultural centers and gay-friendly Churches. Should they have the right to damage or destroy them because it offends their religious sensibilities?

Yes, everyone is entitled to his or her religious opinion. This woman is free to be offended, she is free to protest outside the museum calling the artwork sacrilegious. She can urge everyone she knows not to attend the museum, she can write letters to the editor every day.

What she CAN’T do, in this country, is destroy someone else’s private property simply because she’s offended by it. Why this is such a difficult thing for people to understand is beyond me.

  29. Kevin M, did you really read the posts on here. Most, if not ALL of the guys on here that posted said that they too were offended but did NOT support her actions! I don’t support her actions! Vandalism is wrong! Pure and simple! Wrong! There were better ways to handle the situation.

  30. Jesus fucked prostitutes (mary “the whore” magdalen), his mother was such a slut she didnt know who the father of the baby was “oh it must have been an angel… cos ive not had sex… i havent honestly” lol, and his cousin john the baptist preferred the company of men – hence salome was pissed off she couldnt seduce him

so why the fuck is this god freak woman bothered about this?

there is no fucking god anyway – hes as fake as zeus, odin, the tooth fairy and xenu

  31. For someone who doesn’t exist, you sure get your undies in a wad over Him. Show me where He slept with whores. Or where John the Baptist slept with men. I know how the Conecption occurred, as do you. You just refuse to believe it. Your loss.

It’s funny (not really) that you speak of them as tho they existed, but then say He doesn’t… I don’t think you know what you believe.

  32. I agree with ToddM, I dont know where you’re getting those facts, or what version of the bible you’re readin’ but I suggested you pick up a good copy and read it properly…don’t randomly trash things without proper cause or just because to prove a point.

also no one is dissin’ you or your beliefs, so please refrain from cursin out religion because that’s the same cursing out the people that believe in it. thank you.

  33. fuck all the religious bigots…remember these are the same assholes that justify HATING gays…cause the Bible tells them so…fuck ALL religions…time to dump them and Large Margie….suck on jesus, suck on…

  34. The reaction it provokes is just as much a part of the art as the artist’s interpretation itself. Can’t have an opinion until there’s an opposite one.

  35. How interesting its this… a few days ago most of the people posting here defend actions of reverend phelps (Even when u don’t agree whit him or his group)against the family of the soldier how died on irak based on the bill of rights …. now when someone uses that same right to express something against religion u decide forgett that and take side of the person who committed a violent act to defend hers religious believes…. Do u see a pattern here or its just me???

  36. This years theme for my yard decorations is “Immaculate Ejaculations”.
    The Place: NOBAMAmania
    ProLife Virgin(?) Tebow
    Chrissy O’Donnel THE MISSING LINK
    Dr. Capitalist and Mrs. M.A.D.D.
Sarah Palin/Glen Beck (still working on it) Row,Row,Row your boat is as far as i got)

I like to think it’s art. Got torn down 2 years ago by an angry neighbor. I was just glad someone took the time to notice.

    ;^)

  37. Can anyone answer this question:

    Do popes have nocturnal emissions?

What do they envision? Virgin Mary? Chrissy O’Donnel? Hung Jesus?

  38. rafa, there is a difference between free speech and destroying property. I think you should have been able to figure that one out on your own.

The other person posting will be ignored by me.

  39. ToddM is God! I follow his infinite postings everyday. It’s like my new religion. That’s all I have to say today.

  40. meh! is a hypocritical, bullying, narcissistic, blathering idiot of a queen who can’t help but harrass me. Or…… By golly, I think he is in love with me! That must be it! He follows me everywhere I go on here! GOLLY! Why didn’t I see this before?!?!

  41. Hey ToddM – hard not to run into you here because you are practically on every single blog in here. And then numerous times on each.

But you already know that because you have been called out on this many many times before.

But seeing as you are calling me names and putting me down, I’d say you are the bully here. I simply comment on the fact you can’t just make your comment and then leave. You have to comment on everyone else’s posts as well. Why dont you just invite people to your blog and then you can go on and on and on. Then you can have a following of your own. People you can try to convert.

This blog is for people to comment on what they believe is true for them. NOT to conform to your ideolgies. OH SHIT! Now I am being a bit hypocritical because you are my God and I live for your spoken word.

  42. I want to make it perfectly clear. I am not defending her actions. I think what she did was wrong. There are much better ways to go about letting others know you don’t agree without destroying property or causing harm to another. She could have picketed or something much more peaceful than destroying the mans art. Even though I don’t agree with the art. It still should have been handled in a different way.

  43. Meh! It’s been pointed out to you several times that you come on here and trash everyone else, yet you continue to come back and check to see if anyone has responded to you. Hypocrite.
If it’s ok for you, it’s ok for me.
I’m not trying to make everyone conform to what I believe. I know it will never happen. That is fine by me. But a blog is not about just posting and moving on. It’s about dialogue. How does that happen? Between people having conversation. Conversation is two or more people discussing an issue. That is all I’m doing. YOU are the one calling ME out all of the time. You see the toothpick in my eye but can’t see the log of wood in your own!
As long as I continue to get e-mail from guys thanking me for my posts, I will keep on posting. I don’t care what you think.
I will now prove that I don’t care what you think by ignoring you.

  44. One more thing, Meh! Before I start ignoring you, why is it that anyone else.. such as James as an example, can come and post several times, even in response to others that disagree with him, and you don’t call him out? You have a double standard.
    Now I will ignore you.
I agree, James. There should have been a more peaceful way of going about this.

  45. James doesnt call anyone out. He doesnt mention others. He just makes well thought out comments.

And I only comment on you. No one else but you, boop-boop-ba-do.

And as long as guys continue to message me and thank me for calling you out, I will continue.

  46. Wasn’T the truck driving art lady just expressing herself ? BTW I would have done the same thing !! What if some homophobic IDIOT artist displayed his work showing 2 guys FUCKING with the rainbow flag as the back drop and the caption reading DIE FAGGOTS DIE !! All of U freedom of expression QUEENS would be screaming bloody murder all over this blog . I am as much a supporter of freedom of expression as next guy however that does give one the right 2 totally disrespect what many ( myself included ) hold so dare ! Honestly speaking perhaps I would not have destroyed the picture but I am glad she the guts 2 do it !!

  47. Meh. You don’t have the right to not be offended. Further, freedom of speech does include the right to blaspheme; this isn’t Saudi Arabia, thank god! Just because lots of people are Christian, doesn’t mean that people don’t have the right to mock their faith.

  48. I agree with blackjackhammer. And if the mockery was at Muslims, the entire Islamic nation would have been enraged.

  49. Typical liberal artist hiding behind free speech. This painting was hate speech, pure and simple. His motivations are very clear. As others have said, if he’s so into artistic free speech, let’s see him do the same to Allah, Mohammed, the Koran and those things sacred to Muslims. Would be his last painting.

As I’ve posted before, I am gay and Christian, which can be a very precarious tightrope to walk. I’ve spent years attempting to reconcile the two. I am actually encouraged by all the men on here that call themselves Christian as well – would love you to follow my link and send me an email, good to not be alone and would love to have some similar email buds.

The differentiation being that true Christianity is unique in that it is a relationship not a religion. Mankind through out the years uses religion, government and other means to gain power and control. The more religion involved, the farther from true Christianity that one gets.

To tie this back, this is why people use God’s name to swear, HE is the real deal. This is why Christianity is targeted for free speech cowards like this artist.

  50. I’ve personally found the response to this thread very interesting, and it’s given me tons of ideas for a book I’m in the middle of writing that will focus on the subject of Gay men & women and religion.
