  1. Let’s make sure that as a community we continue to enforce all of the stereotypes about us….. One more reason to avoid pride events. I guess I have enough self esteem not
to have to attend these sorts of events.

  2. Aww that was a cute video… I’ll take the trainer and the bear please… it’d be a good threesome! 🙂

  3. To everyone not from Toronto who sees this video: I’m sorry.  Toronto Pride is actually really fun.  We’ve been going through a lot this year, and I’m sure this is the best PrideTO could do under the circumstances.

I love how this video wasn’t even promoting ANYTHING to do with pride…it was just 3 minutes of annoying/borderline offensive. *sigh*

  4. Nice to have Pride connected to body fascism.  Like marriage fascism wasn’t bad enough.

  5. This just horrible.
    Simply, simply horrible.
It’s unfunny to anybody who’s not a stereotype portrayed in the video. And even then, they’re probably not laughing *super*-hard.

The bear is sexy as hell though 🙂

  6. As we said on Twitter – @dylaniumknits We figured that was it [bad decision]. We’re sure Toronto Gay Pride is actually awesome. Cuz’ Toronto ROCKS!

  7. Toronto is under a conservative government now and also the rest of Canada, so the fun is very limited here these days. Pride here sucks. Except for the big ass circuit parties. Nobody bothers with the politics anymore, just the big name sponsors and getting drunk at the beer garden.

  8. It’s amazing how easy we can fall into representing an stereotype just for the sake of saying “i’m proud of who i am” … this is so not pride, this is just another way to prove their oppinions right about being narrow minded and shallow… so sad!!

  9. Am I the only one who didn’t think it was that big of a deal? It was a fun little video made by gay people for gay people. We don’t have to be beacons of self righteousness all the time. We could ya know….be fun. *gets shot dead for uttering the word fun* (Guys who made the last aside gets shot for  typing it…)

  10. Uh…….it was kind of……..what, offensive?  Reinforcing every stereotype that makes me roll my eyes.  Oh Toronto—-who thought this video was a good idea?

  11. for me the best part was the blooper at the end it was the realest part of the whole thing.

  12. I used to live in TO, and pride is not the parade of body snobs this video would make you believe.  It is actually a fun event for everyone.  Best of luck this year to the organizer.  (And I concur.  I want to fuck the bear. 😉

  13. Who thought this a good idea? Not anybody connected with Toronto, that’s for sure….

  14. Totally love it. All you anti- queers need to chill. Who cares if “you” aren’t represented in the video. It’s just a video, and it’s funny (or, at least, smile worthy.)

By the way, Pride festivals are fun. You will get as much fun out of it as you put into it. Quit bitching.

  15. Horrifying. Every stereotype in the book, with an added tonne of superficial? I know so many guys who don’t go to pride for all the reasons this video nicely summarizes.

  16. maybe i’m not able to see the “subtext,” ´cuz my Jock didn’t get all in a bunch after watching this.

on the other hand, i would like to spend a couple of rounds with the muscle•bear, myself.

    if you please.

  17. this video is just bad…
and it’s an inaccurate representation of Toronto pride, pride in Toronto is actually really fun!! Trust me. I just have no idea what they were thinking when they made this.

  18. You guys need to take the brooms out of your asses and lighten up 😉 It is meant as a joke, a satire and I actually think it is funny.
Although I have attended quite a few Pride weekends in TO to confirm that most of those stereotypes are alive and well.
P.S. If you haven’t stepped out of the house recently on a pride weekend, I can tell you that other than the parade, pride stopped being about politics and revendications a long time ago.

  19. First, we have a ridiculously horrible video that demonstrates every gay stereotype in the book.  Then you read the comments and find every other comment reaffirming those stereotypes….good job!

  20. I work in comedy and live in Toronto and honestly dont see what the big issue with this video is.

Yes its playing on stereotypes, but it’s also telling people about pride Toronto. This video has gone viral, a feat not alot of videos can claim, and thus has allowed people to see the dates of pride (which starts a week earlier, and concludes the weekend of July 1st).

But the idea that these stereotypes portrayed in the video are worse then the ones we put on our online profiles is just ridiculous. It’s called a joke, a viral video joke to go viral.

I as a Gay Toronto Comedian am very impressed by this video and the way it’s spreading….

  21. Ok, lets remove all elements that could be considered even remotely stereotypically gay.

So no: bears, muscle boys, leather, uniform, drag queens, dykes on bikes etc, etc. Absolutely no dance music or dancing (after all we’ve all seen “In and Out).

Better ban alcohol aswell just in case people remember the less draconian days when Pride Parades/ Parties were about diversity, freedom and fun.

  22. I really can’t believe anyone is complaining about this! Especially on manhunt daily. I mean, you’re here to objectify and sexualize men. The porno you download is categorized based on the stereotypes satirized in this video.

Anon, you can’t be serious. “A tonne of superficial”… You’re on fucking manhunt! There are 40 dicks on this page alone! This video is poking fun at the gym body mentality. If anything, all of this porno is more at fault for promoting superficiality in the community.

I’m so over all of these high and mighty whiners with no sense of humor. Toronto pride is fun and I commend Toronto Tourism for going against the grain to remind us that we are part of a vibrant and fun community.

Body fascism?! Fucking hilarious. Get a grip.
