Top or Bottom: Neil Patrick Harris

Today’s edition of Top or Bottom is purely for the fun of the game, because we’re pretty sure Neil Patrick Harris has previously implied that he’s versatile. However, there’s a chance that he leans one way or the other, right? And maybe he was lying about the whole versatile thing! He could be a total closet bottom. You never know.

Well, unless you’re his partner, David Burtka! The two lovebirds were recently caught on film performing Cole Porter‘s “You’re The Top” at a benefit for The Trevor Project. There was clearly a tongue-in-cheek, wink-wink vibe to the performance, so it only seemed natural to include Neil in today’s poll.

Last week, you voted Bradley Cooper as 100% versatile. Check out the full results here.

  1. Seriously, NPH is the most attractive gay celeb and probably THE best role model for younger generations of homos. He’s not the irritating in your face queen and he just does his thing, with out a care of what both heteros or homos think. I love it.

  2. Who cares – I’ll do whatever he wants me to do to him – especially if it involves burying my tongue in his hole.

  3. When he was in Assassins, all the Broadway boys called NPH “Three Fingers Doogie,” and anyone who was lucky enough to see David Burtka in The Play About the Baby knows he’s hung like a pony, so I’m guessing both of them are quite happy with each other.

  4. They’re such a cute couple. I think it’s high time there’s a successful gay male power couple. So happy to see them representing gay couples in a positive light.

  5. i think he’s more on the top side out of his necessity….he’s bf strikes me as a total fucking lady bottom!

  6. There’s something about this that feels wrong. He’s obviously amazing, but here’s my thing (ha!)… he’s engaged, a father of two, and a strong gay role model. I get it’s Manhunt and I hate when people get preachy in the comments….but am I the only one who feels weird about this poll?

  7. I’m wondering about the joke of “dancing like a bottom” in a routine for the Trevor Project.  The joke clearly suggests that doing anything like a bottom is a bad thing.  Why would that be true?  Because as Pigknuckle reminds us to be a bottom is to be a “lady.”  Which reaffirms the cultural connection between gay men and femininity, which is one of the sharp tricks of bullies, which is why the Trevor Project exists:  to counter bullying, and low gay self-esteem and gay suicides.

I have always thought NPH was very hot.  I think he’s funny as Barney Stinson.  He was great in Assassins and in the recent Lincoln Center revival of Company.  But I really, really resent that he’s become the great gay role model.  Lest we forget, he was absolutely forced screaming out of the closet.  Then he refused to talk about being gay in interviews.  The life that he presents is the most conventional and heteronormative one.  (Would he be such a darling of the mainstream media if he had a different boytoy on his arm at every awards show and talked about how he enjoyed fisting and bareback parties?)  And, as his recent “tranny” comments and this performance shows, he hardly has queer positive politics.

    We should keep looking fellas.
