The Marc Jacobs Ad Men’s Vogue Didn’t Want You To See

Gay Couple Kissing

Raise your hand if you read Men's Vogue before it folded. Well, that's fine. I sure as hell didn't read it either. Now, raise your hand if you think the magazine's demographic would have been offended by a Marc Jacobs ad featuring two men kissing. Yeah, that's exactly what I thought too! Apparently, the magazine's editors didn't agree, because they rejected the above ad photographed by Juergen Teller

When asked about his many controversial ads, Teller told The New York Times, "Funnily enough the most complaints were about the series with Dick Page and James Gibbs because they are a gay couple. Men’s Vogue even refused to publish it…I like the idea of having a gay couple in a men’s ad because it makes sense. And I wanted the ads to be like they are — very romantic, tender and sweet. I certainly didn’t want to have anything provocative, not at all."

Who the hell did Men's Vogue think their readers were? Now I'm not saying straight men can't get into fashion, but do you really think the ones who are would have a problem seeing an ad with two men kissing? I highly doubt it!

  1. International Mens Vogue is much better than the stupid monthly American one.
And we’re not even going to speak about Marc Jacobs… *snore*
