The Best Manhunt Daily Interviews of 2013 (Part Two)

Earlier this month, I asked Manhunt Daily contributor Lawrence to compose a list of his favorite interviews from 2013. He came back at me full force with an outstanding top ten, which included chats he had with Bryan Slater, Race Cooper, Bravo Delta and our 2013 “Flip-Fucker of The Year” Dale Cooper. We could have left it at that, but I am a ridiculous human who wanted to acknowledge some other interviews that Lawrence didn’t (except for one case) compose.

It would have been an injustice to ignore our emotional exchange with I.K.P. or the time I didn’t get to fondle Colby Jansen at a Manhunt pool party! These are my personal picks for the best interviews of 2013 (that Lawrence didn’t mention in his original round-up). Which of our interviews was your favorite this year?

10. EVERY MANHUNT MAN OF THE WEEK INTERVIEW I DID:

As I stated in our Manhunt Man of The Year post, it’s no secret that our Manhunt Man of The Week series hasn’t reached a stable place just yet. At some point, I decided our questionnaire was far too unpredictable. From there, we experimented with merely featuring a hot guy, but it felt empty without an accompanying interview to let you know more about him.

So, logically, I aimed to organize an interview every week! I spoke with Florida-based bear porn model MonsterCubFTL, burlesque drag performer KenicksRox, spunky bisexual artist DAKtwentythree and bad-ass cub Questionrofthecosmos. It was a joy to learn more about these four gentlemen and their daily endeavors, and hell, I may have even made a casual friend or two along the way.

9. RICA SHAY:

We interviewed 70,000 people for Accidental Bear‘s Queer Music Tour, but Rica Shay was the only person who talked a lot about his butt. (We refuse to believe Boulangerié Knowles‘ fictional account of her time spent with Big Dipper.) Despite my best efforts to keep the conversation focused on his music, he just kept demanding that we talk about his butt! It was like he really wanted me to give him a rimjob or something.

8. JASON OF SPUNK WORTHY FAME:

I’m fascinated by the inner workings of a gay porn site. While Lawrence favored his chat with Dominic Ford on his own list, I’ve got to show some love for Spunk Worthy founder Jason. We became tighter over the year after I asked him a really inappropriate question, which is far less inappropriate than what I plan on doing to his mouth if we ever meet in person. (Hint! It involves my penis and his nose buried in my pubes.)

Jason told us more about Spunk Worthy‘s decision to produce hardcore anal scenes. Though I never really got to ask him how fans reacted to the first release with Nicholas and Scottie, I’m going to take a wild guess that this evolution was welcomed with wide open arms. Tons of sites claim to feature “straight” guys doing things for the “first” time. Spunk Worthy is one of few that actually delivers in this regard, adding a much-needed dose of reality to the fetishization of heterosexual men.

7. JOHNNY PARKER:

This year brought us a handful of new gay porn models. Johnny Parker may not have blown up on the level of Shawn Wolfe or Mike Dozer, but that doesn’t change the fact that he’s an intelligent, sexy man who delivered us plenty of orgasms throughout the past twelve months.

When we weren’t discussing Charlie Harding‘s ass-eating skills or reminiscing on the work of Erik Rhodes, Johnny got up on his soapbox for a few words about the (then) current state of US politics. He also answered a weird question about cauliflower, which I still don’t understand to this day…

6. A GAY DOG:

It was not easy to secure this interview with the dog who turned gay after witnessing a Czech Hunter shoot. The studio was extremely evasive when we reached out to them. After multiple phone calls harassing them for information, they eventually caved in and passed over some contact information from the dog’s model release form.

The dog, who specifically asked that we not print his first name, revealed what it was like coming to terms with his sexuality. We discussed his feelings on the bear community, the state of the doggie marriage equality movement and his first experience licking another dog’s penis. He was sort of a bitch at points, which is funny, because he’s not actually a bitch.

5. COLBY JANSEN:

Let’s be honest! If I had been at the Manhunt pool party where it was filmed, this video interview with Colby Jansen would have been ranked higher on this list. Of course, it also would have been far less cohesive, because our dear friend Colby would have been horribly distracted by my head bobbing up and down in his lap.

In this same session, Colby stated that he’d let me fuck him on camera, and if there were any ounce of truth to that, it might have been another reason to rank this interview higher… Still, it was a nice prelude to the announcement that he’d be taking Tommy Defendi‘s nine-inch cock in MEN.COM‘s “Top To Bottom” series. A few months later, he wound up getting pounded like a champ and earning that fatter paycheck (unlike some people we know).

4. SEAN ZEVRAN:

Guest contributor Karsh brought us this excellent interview with Randy Blue model Sean Zevran. This is one of those rare pieces where you actually get to know the performer, instead of feeling like you just read a commercial for his next scene. If you can pound through this and not feel more attracted to Mr. Zevran, then I might genuinely question your judgment.

Karsh has expressed interest in working with us some more, and I feel like a huge idiot for being less proactive about future assignments. We briefly spoke about him coordinating Manhunt Man of The Week posts in 2014, so hopefully, we’ll be able to develop a system that works over the next few months.

3. TREVOR KNIGHT:

Like most gay men in this world, I have a tendency to think of Trevor Knight as someone who should slap me in the face with his huge dick. It turns out that, beyond all the dirty talk and cum shots, he’s very much in love with his boyfriend David Bradberry, and it’s fucking adorable to hear him talk about their relationship.

Trevor and I spoke shortly after his proposal to David aired on Bravo’s Below Deck. He revealed that he’ll be quitting the gay porn industry as soon as he says “I do”, but to my knowledge, no wedding date is currently set. Is it wrong that I’m selfishly hoping he’ll churn out more videos to pay for the reception? Admit it! You’re thinking the same thing.

2. I.K.P.:

In the interest of full disclosure, I had met rapper and producer I.K.P. a year or so before our interview. While there are a lot of people in this world who suck the life out of a room with their negative energy, I can safely say that he was the complete opposite. He’s a refreshingly vibrant human being with a genuine love for making music. Spending time with him made me want to be a better, more artistically fulfilled person.

Naturally, we connected on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram after becoming acquainted with one another. When I suggested we do this interview one day, I had literally no idea how much shit he had been through. It added an extra layer of depth to his music, and to this day, I can’t listen to his track “Smilin’ (Don’t Let Me Stop)” without tears welling up in my eyes.

Artists like Cazwell, LE1F, Big Dipper and Cakes Da Killa might get attention for their flashy videos and club-ready jams, but if you want some queer hip-hop with heart and soul, you need not look further than I.K.P. (Though, if you do look further, there are a lot of other great options out there.)

1. WILL SWAGGER:

Flirting with me does not necessarily make for a good interview, but it does make for a memorable one that tops a list like this. To give you some background, Will Swagger is a masseur, escort, porn star and all-around DILF. It’s his job to make people feel sexy and bring their fantasies to life, and he’s so talented that he managed to accomplish this over Skype.

When we spoke back in November, things started off innocently enough. I contacted him through Massage Men to inquire about the three levels of service he offers. As we continued to go back and forth, he eventually started referring to me as “boy” and (jokingly?) invited me to have a threesome with him and his partner Allen Silver on their fourth anniversary.

Our conversation continued off the record, and while I can’t remember every single detail, I know that it resulted in several late night jerk-off sessions before bed.
