Teach Your Children Well, Hillbillies

Here’s a DELIGHTFUL video of two toddlers singing “Ain’t No Homos Gonna Make It To Heaven” at the Apostolic Truth Tabernacle Church in Greensburg, Indiana. The crowd LOVES it. Whoo-hoo! It’s always good to encourage kids to hate people that are different from them.

With any luck, these two will end up being extremely gay. Gay pyromaniacs who will burn that church down. Hopefully with the congregation inside. I kid! I would never support violence. Well, I would support a bitch-slap. I think the parents who taught their kids to sing this song deserve a bitch-slap.

I feel that a lot of people who aren’t exposed to gay people, are uneducated, or raised up with intolerant religions are terrified of what is quickly becoming the time in US history when gay people were finally given their due equal rights and treated with equal protection under the law. We’re not there YET, but the president going to bat for us is pretty big.

That’s what this is – fear. Fear of change, fear of the status quo being threatened. Fear of new ideas. People lash out at what they don’t understand or are afraid of. So they fight their fear by being ignorant and cruel and hiding behind their deity. Despite the fact that from what I understand, their religion is usually asking them to love one another. Also, I’m thinking that Jesus guy they talk about wouldn’t be into being homophobic and being comfortable with blind hatred.

I’m not excusing these fools, I’m just getting where they’re coming from. Fearful and stupid. Sorry about the diatribe/wandering thoughts while blogging.

  1. As a member of a Christian church, I am saddened,,horrified and ashamed of what some people do in the name of religion.  My faith does not include hatred, abuse, or exclusion….I worship a God tht invites all, loves all, includes all….
I agree…this video is based in fear.  But it is also a grab at power….and we must not let them have it!!

  2. WOW. For some reason it’s always disappointing  to see things from my town on here. As someone from Greensburg, I must say not everyone in town feels like this. There are those stupid people everywhere. Im an out gay man and never had any problems at all living here, and there are several of us. But there are stupid idiots like that everywhere I guess.

  3. there continues to be much bigotry in this country in the name of religion  but the fight is on!!!!

  4. Someone needs to teach those inbred hillbillies that ‘ain’t’ isn’t a word. Morons.

  5. It’s always interesting that one of the major criticisms from religious groups is that gay people are out in indoctrinate kids with our agenda. All the while they are doing exactly what they criticize us for doing. This example continuers to support the idea that hate has to be carefully taught to kids by adults. They born with the desire to sing songs like this. Are they gonna teach them song about the Jewish people,Black people, muslims, Asian people, mormons… the list can go on and on.

  6. Huh. I’m from Greensburg, IN originally.  That’s also the same town where Billy Lucas killed himself last year, thanks to things like this.  Hooray for the home town keeping its status quo.

  7. The bible also criticises gossips, adulterers, slanderers, fornicators, greedy folks. I bet quite a few in that church fall into one of those categories.

Jesus also said “Don’t judge others”. Amazing how all that gets forgotten.

  8. I had a great discussion with a friend last night about this debate.  I grew up in a Christian home and am a Christian. But I am gay. The two contradict one another in many eyes, but not mine.  My Christian mother taught me long ago that we don’t hate anyone, so when I came out to my family, mom said she hated gays. This stung to the core as you can imagine, but I looked at her and said, what other things that you taught me growing up aren’t true then? I reminded her that she taught me that we didn’t hate anyone, and her modern-day GOP stance wasn’t living the example I had been given all my life.

People may have their opinions and views.  As a gay man, I am proud that I made the decision to come out and life my life as I am.  I am still not as out as I could be among certain circles, but I have always believed in a separation of work and personal life.
I’m landing the plane here with this:

If someone you know argues against same-sex marriage, try this.
Ask them- do you want  someone to tell you where to go to church, school and who your friends may be? Most will say no. Remind them that people support the notion of separation of church and state, but how is picking and choosing which laws or issues we all religious and moral arguments to be made into.  It’s the separation of church and state.  Christians have claimed marriage around the country.  So does this mean Jewish couple weddings don’t exist? Or atheist couple wedding don’t exist? The American government says they do, and religion is not brought into play in those arenas.  We must take the moral and religious discussion out of the debate and the sooner this is realized the better chance our rights have of being defended.

I know this was a rant but I needed to get it off my chest after seeing this video.  I feel sorry for these youth and others who aren’t allowed to make their mind up for themselves.  There is a part of me that wants these two to grow up and fall in love with a man and only to show that love- true love- God’s love- knows no bounds.

  9. You Americans don’t learn the lesson. Religious is Bad; it controls people’s mind and it is destroying the world.

I thought that this was not a CHRISTIAN country so, how come “IN GOD WE TRUST” is printed on  the $ bills?

And if you are homosexual and religious, you need medical treatment because it is contradictory. You will never see an Afro-American joining the KK Clan.

  10. It is because of people like you why this country has such a huge problem with Christians.
It is 2012 and religion is still controlling this country.
The bible is just a fairy tales book for kids.I really wish you all, christian gay people, the worst in life for demeaning the rest of the human beings in the world. Your religion is better than others because none of them is good.

  11. You first be honest to yourself. You are in the closet because you are afraid. and because your mom really did a number on you by washing your brain and called you HOMO.

By the way, marriage has nothing to do with RELIGION since it is a CIVIL union between two human beings. or at least that is what other cultures think, like Romans, Greeks, Barbarians, Vikings,….were all they religious?
    NO!!!

  12. they were religious, just not Christian.  and what exactly is your problem.  Bitter, party of one.

  13. Mark, you shouldn’t be lashing out at Gwdgwd, his commentary is clearly not in opposition to you, in ANY way.

Not only that, your own commentary makes no sense…and you pretty much sound like a rabid fool.

  14. no they were not. some were polytheist and some were atheist. and being polytheist meant to have a lot of statues all over the temple because, after decades, these “religions” were gone. Who is going to believe that GOD blows the wind? I have seen preaches blowing cocks but nothing else.

  15. to those religious people who think that God is the reason of every single thing in thr world, and that he is the one that blows the wind and makes the sun shine…..let me tell you that preaches and pastors usually blow something but it is not the wind and, yes, something shiny blinds them  but it is not the sun exactly.

    Religion = Ignorance

Centuries of killing Native American Indians and pre-colombus civilizations in the name of God!!! God Bless the United States of America!!! F %^%& UUUUUUUUU

  16. Mark, do you read what people write or just fly off the handle?  The guy just said that he just CAME OUT…it’s a process.  There’s really no reason for you to be so nasty.

Also…Romans and Greeks and Vikings had an entire religeous cosmology.  Barbarians isn’t even a culture you turd.

  17. not really. i just dont get it: gay and religious….ok,

I hope to see the first Afro-american in the Ku Kux Klan some day in this country.

  18. MARK YOU ARE NO BETTER THAN THEY ARE JUST BECAUSE YOU DONT BELIEVE IN GOD U HAVE NO RIGHT PUSHING YOU VIEWS ON EVERYONE AND THOSE PARENTS SHOULDNT PUSH THEIR VIEWS OFF ON THEIR CHILDREN  JUST BECAUSE YOU DONT BELIEVE DOESNT MEAN EVERYONE SHOULD BE JUST LIKE MARK

  19. thank you for sharing that your town is full of idiots but, idiots are everywhere. hopefully, people start looking at the ones in California instead of always focusing on the Mid west

  20. is that your point or you are just frustrated? it really hurts to have nothing to say and to see that one is wrong, right?

  21. they were not all religious. they were polytheist and atheist.

they were in the process of getting rid of the religions becuase they realized that no GOD was blowing the wind.

Are you still thinking that the Earth is square?

Try to bring up some good point and not just defend a gay christian that is still half in the closet.

    That person has no point.

  22. Religion is not good!!!!! I dont see God, Alah or Shiba anywhere.

I see child abuse, killings in the name of GOD, women becoming slaves for their husbands…you want more?

And yes, everybody should be just like me because am a very common sense, nice, polite, intelligent person that never would do anything bad against human beings.

But am tired of the Christians in this country because they get in everyone’s business.

I have been living in 3 different countries in 20 years and, believe, this is not the Land of Freedom as you guys think.

Go abroad, live the culture and, when you come back, see if this country is better than any other.

  23. Mark…polytheism is a religion.  Also…where was it that Christianity took root…was it Rome?  I mean, they did build a big church there, or so I’ve heard.

I won’t bother with responding beyond this because my morning pissiness has passed.

Clearly you are gem.  With intimate knowledge of the universe and bygone cultures, that far surpasses mine or anyone else’s.  You’re a paragone of virtue and temperance Mark.  Don’t ever change because you’re obviously SUCH a catch.

  24. Well thank goodness we all know your opinion now.  (insert sarcasm here)  Numerous post’s later and you are still ranting about the same thing.  We got it the first time dude.

  25. Look dude….I despise Christianity just as much as the next person….but stop hating on people for their beliefs. We get it…you don’t believe in the bible…some people do. Leave it alone.

  26. I have learned in my 56 years on this earth, there is a Father Mother God that loves us deeply, we don’t need to go to some building on Sunday to worship their god,  I know that Gay people find God outside the buildings on Sunday, I found God on a park bench downtown. Indianapolis, call me crazy but my partner and I see walls knocked down everyday, because we are the rose throwers, and we see our prayers answered…

  27. Clearly stupid people resort to continuous rantings when noone seems to give a fuck.

  28.  Please learn the English language before you try and post against someone.  You are the type of uneducated gay that gets us the negative attention we get.  I did come out and stood up for myself.  Don’t ever talk about my mother because no one said anything about the hole you crawled out of.  My example I gave of my own mother was that I gave her a dose of her own medicine and it helped her to realize she was in the wrong.  Not sure where you read I was still in a closet, though I did say that I was not totally out at work, and this is my business.  My ability to do great work has nothing to do with what’s in my bed at night.

Marriage is a religious act, according to those who are against gay marriage.  They allow religion into this conversation and stand by for the separation of church and state in other regards.

Our culture will never get anywhere bashing one another. Support and love one another- even you Mark.  Even you.

  29. Ouch, on the one hand, I completely agree that religion should not be in control of this country or any country and that it causes more problems than it solves, on the other hand, you Mark, are part of the reason athiests like myself have such a stigma attached to them. Being an athiest in this country is like being a communist 50 years ago.

  30. Not that the two are similar, just that it’s an incredibly demonizing “label” to have over oneself.

  31. After growing up in an extremely religious, homophobic home, I find it hard to be shocked by things like this anymore. I turned out reasonably okay, all I can hope is that these kids will do the same. Not all children become their parents. And thank … well, whatever or whoever you do or don’t believe in for that.

  32. dammnit.  i mis-spelled paragon.  just when i was tryin’ to sound all smart n’ shit.

  33. Jay, I find this Mark character pretty deplorable…but I suspect that english isn’t his first language, so it isn’t really that he’s uneducated, just not as nuanced as a natural english speaker.

Doesn’t change the fact that he comes across like an ass.

Appreciate you sharing your story, and good for you for standing up to, and being compassionate toward your mother.

  34. I find most arguments against religion are usually undone by folks letting their emotions color their words. The whole point of making a LOGICAL ARGUMENT is to just list the facts and only the facts. I get that it’s hard, especially when you’ve suffered at the hands of whatever subject you are protesting, but you got to keep it together. It’s not the devout who you are trying to reach, it’s all the undecideds.

It’s like a political campaign. Going overly negative just hurts your appeal among the swing voters.

Let the facts stand for themselves, trust me, there’s enough there that the need for editorializing is moot.

  35. To bad they had to use the little kid who has no idea what he is saying,he is just repeating what they pumped into his head.15 years or so down the road this could come back to haunt someone if he turns out to be gay,and I don’t mean the inocent little kid!!!Shame on them.

  36.  The bitch slaps are coming, it is inevitable. You got parents murdering their children on a daily basis, thousands of people dead in warfare, coffee shop killers and hanibal Lecter in Florida. But yet my lust for cock and cornhole is something that should be condemed. As soon as we are are all locked in confinement w/ electric fences then all these aformentioned problems will cease to be. God, humans can be so pathetic. But don t you worry my fellow bitches. Were not the ones doing all those horrible things . All we do is fuck, who we hurtin? And when the great and terrible day comes, perhaps we will be amongst the meek to inherit the Earth.

  37. The roof is on fire!… People freedom of religion in this country!.. It’s a shame idiots teach thier children to be idiots. ..my heart aches for the innocent….

  38.  Totally agree with Mark. America is confussed, they are stucked on religion and do not trascend to spiritually, managed by morals and not ethics.

  39. Mark  hate comes in many forms and yes I will agree with you on the  many things that you  commented on above  but Mark at the end of the day as a Black American I have to believe that LOVE  will conquer hate after all the struggles of Black America which have long been dictated and who’s accomplishment  ( to many to mention ) where primarily achieved  through PEACE against hate , BIBLE  against bullets and DETERMINATION against the dogs and the list goes on and on . Mark I know that religion has been the cause of many wars but it is not the speaking of the BIBLE that starts the war but rather how man interpret it . Mark I can understand why you feel the way you do and can respect you for that but this world is a very dangerous place where the BIBLE still give me hope so PLEASE do not disrespect me for that …….

  40. First of all I think it is enormously healthy when people argue constructively this is  Religion and being a Christian are two entirely different states of being. A religion can be adopted simply by adhering to the tennets of the said dogma; being a Christian describes a person who has accepted the teachings of Jesus Christ as his or her personal Saviour. As someone who has accepted Christ and experienced the joy of my salvation I can attest to the fact that being gay has in no way precluded my faith. It is inconceivable that Christ would disown me because I am gay. Religion, on the other hand is often built on fear and control and damning homosexuality is a useful tool to gain support from homophobes. I want nothing to do with religion – my faith is built on the cleansing power of the Blood of Christ shed for me at Calvary.

Being gay is a reality just as being a heterosexual is a reality. We don’t decide to become gay or straight – surely common sense then tells us that it cannot be wrong to be what you are naturally.

Fear creates hate – never forget that!

  41. Fuck posts like these. They make it sound like the gay rights movement is tolerant, openminded and progressive. It’s not, and it hasn’t been since what, the late 1970s?

Fighting to apply the heteronormative, ‘consensual adult’ model to gay couples isn’t moving forward. It’s backstabbing and Uncle Toming. Christians are at least sincere and consistent in their bigotry.

  42. Considering how gays treat each other (just look at how manhuntdaily promotes, primarily, those “hot, young, sculpted” guys), who are we to criticize how homophobes treat us?  We want to be viewed as “normal?”  Well, let’s start treating most of us, who are normal, as normal.

  43. As an atheist, Blackjackhammer, I understand Mark’s frustration with believers in gods.  We atheists will never try to take away your right to believe in such things and do whatever you do appease them.  And I say gods because I’ve never met a believer in them who all agree what that god is and what it wants, even within the same church or whatever.  Even among my fundy friends who go to the same church, there is disagreement about what they all think their god is and what it wants.

It is not true that man was made in the image and likeness of a god.  What is true is that gods are made in the image and likeness of men (and women).  You, Blackjackhammer, believe in a god and use the bible as your source for it.  If that’s what you need in your life to make it meaningful, well, good for you.  You pick and choose what the bible says about your god.  All who believe in the bible do the same.  I have “bible-believing” gay friends who go to a local episcopal church that is “gay friendly and inclusive.”  It conducts gay marriages and advocates for it being civilally legal.  It has gay groups meeting on its property.  Across the street is a catholic church that promotes discrimination against gay people regarding marriage and many other secular, civil rights for gays.  Both churches claim to follow the same god and the same bible.  Yet, both churches have the same god that is diametrically opposed to each other.  So which god is right?  Well, the one made in their image and likeness.  Just like you.  Of course, only god can be the right and correct one.  It doesn’t matter what one wants that god to be.  It’s either one or the other – a gay affirming one or a homophbic one.  What makes those episcopalians right and the catholics wrong?  What makes the catholics right and the episcoplains wrong?  What makes your god right and others wrong?  Because you want your god to be that way?

As an atheist, I know there are no gods.  I know that it is a fact.  You can’t prove the existence of your god (and don’t use that fallacious prove-a-negative argument to say I can’t prove it doesn’t).  If it’s important to you to have a god to justify your life, then do it.  It would be better if you didn’t, but if you do, then for whatever reason it keeps you from doing bad things, then do it.  We atheists hold that no religion – including yours – determines our civil, human, constitutional rights.  It doesn’t matter that your god, made in your image and likeness, does.  We don’t trust religious people.  They are fickle.  One moment they decide that their god mandates one thing, and the next moment another.  And we gays, as well as all other minorities, suffer at the hands of god believers who are the majority (even within the gay “community”).  I fully understand Mark’s frustration as god believers like you.  If you have the need to believe in god, then believe it.  But like all other god believers, we want you to keep it to yourself.  We won’t force you to believe otherwise.  We can only hope, as atheists, that you’ll eventually accept rational realization as to what’s real, rather than using typical religious rationalization.  At one time, I had some of the best sex I’m into with a catholic priest on a Saturday night before the Sunday morning where he told his flock that being gay is wrong.  True story.

  44. Based on the bible quote that follows the performance it seems ABUNDANTLY clear that if “Ain’t no homos gonna make it to Heaven”, we certainly aren’t the only ones who’ll be denied admission. These ignorant bigots might want to spend some time noting the other offenses that will keep you out of Heaven. I contend that bashing gay people is the laziest way to get labeled a good Christian without doing a single thing to improve yourself or follow the teachings of the Bible. And if Heaven is going to be filled with these ignorant, hateful, bigots, PLEASE send me anywhere else. It’s bad enough I have tolerate them in this life. If I were to be put with them to spend eternity you can bet that God will have to answer to me.
