Supreme Court Rejects DADT Challenge

Supreme COurt
Barack Obama previously declared June as LGBT Pride month, which makes it a perfect time for his administration to request the Supreme Court reject a case challenging Don't Ask, Don't Tell, right? I guess we have to turn our backs on "discrimination and prejudice everywhere it exists" unless the definition of "everywhere" includes the military.
UPDATE: Title of post has been changed, to more accurately reflect the events that went down. As one of you pointed out oh-so-kindly, it might have been strategic to suggest rejecting the case, given that it may not have had an appropriate amount of support.

  1. Thank you Dewitt, that’s exactly what I’ve been saying. Yeah, I’m so glad President Obama loves “the gays” – now could he get off his ass and actually do something for equality?

  2. He isn’t doing that because I honestly don’t believe we should be equal. He just said so during the campaign. His words say one thing, but his actions say a complete other, I see that change is really just the same all over again.

  3. hello my gay ameericans , This is president Obama drama.I wana thank all you nice gay people who belived me when I said “Im for gay rights” but really Im not with ya. Did U really belive I would change the rules for you Fags.. I mean gays. I said what I had to say to get the Votes from that Bitch Hillary. I knew most of you fags would go for her. So I said hey I will just gay bait for your vote , Then this brings me to here. I will give you the month of june and thats all.Well untill 2012 when I will gay bait again for your vote. Till then I DON’T NEED U
    your president obama drama

  4. You guys oughtta settle down and get your facts, er, straight.
    1. That headline is misleading. The Supreme Court did NOT uphold “Don’t ask, don’t tell.” They declined to hear an appeal about the policy — in other words, they didn’t grant certiorari, which means they won’t hear the case or rule on it at all. There is a big difference between what really happened and what you suggest happened. We’re far better off with the Supreme Court remaining mum on the policy than with them affirming it.
    2. Have you counted votes on the Court lately? Thanks to years of Republican presidential appointments, the court’s packed with four die-hard conservatives (Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, Alito) and one or two swing votes. Plenty of gay legal experts have opined recently that they don’t have the votes to win this case right now. Which is a good reason for the Obama Administration, along with gay-rights groups, to be glad that the case didn’t end up before the court.
If you’re going to comment on current events and politics on this blog, Dewitt, it would behoove you to get your facts in line and understand the larger context. Otherwise, stick to the stroke-off pics.

  5. No he di’n’t! (How exactly do you spell that, anyway?)
Freetimes69, you’re dismissing Dewitt (rather condescendingly, I might add) over semantics. The Supreme Court declined to hear a case regarding DADT, so it is not misleading to state that they upheld it.
And while I appreciate your gosh-darn big words – must be fun to finally use “behoove” in a context other than telling men you can suck like a behoover – you come across as a total jerk.
And why exactly can’t we have both opinions and stroke-off pics?

  6. I agree with Tommy, just like in another post someone says this has nothing to do with gays, who cares? gay guys like me anyway wanna see hot guys and dead horny shit, but also regular news that’s why i like this blog rlly, not many do both

  7. Everyone needs to relax. Obama has been in office less than 6 months. Give it time, they know what they are doing. DADT and marriage are hot button issues that inflame the opposition. If Obama does anything now, he will lose in 2012. The liberal/social agenda is going to have to wait for second term if there is any hope of reelection. If at the end of 8 years nothing has been done, then we can complain.

  8. JD, keep making excuses for him. God forbid Obama do anything right because it’s the right thing to do. And at a time when 60% of conservatives and church-goers favor allowing gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military (Gallup poll, June 5), Obama is far behind the curve.

  9. And explain something to me, because it makes absolutely no sense. Why would Obama promise to overturn DADT while running for President, but actually doing it would hurt his chances at reelection. That’s ridiculous, JD.

  10. Obama is talking out of both sides of his mouth… he supported the lower court decision upholding the policy that the supreme court threw out yesterday…. he lied to get the gay vote…….
I really feel like there needs to be some major power play that the gay community could work on this country …I truly wish every single person who is gay could come out and be counted. so we can show our true numbers,.and stop all this closet bullshit…… bring this country to a point of not allowing them to have all this voting power to discriminate and decide whether we have rights or not.

  11. It is obvious when Drama Obama is not speaking the truth, as his lips are moving. Perhaps if he put as much attention into gay rights as has been done to protect unions and groups he did him favors this would have been resolved already.
