Straight Guys In Germany Making Out To Battle Homophobia

GQ Germany, perhaps casting a side-eye over at Sochi, has created “Gentlemen Against Homophobia“. It’s a campaign featuring straight German celebs (including musician Herbert Grönemeyet, actors Ken Duken, Kostya Ullmann and August Diehl, and Olympian Julius Brink) making out to demonstrate how pedestrian it is for two men to kiss.

They’re using #Mundpropaganda as their hashtag. It means “word of mouth”. It’s a nice gesture and a good idea. Not that they should have to, but our lives being normalized in the media would definitely assist in halting the bullshit going on in places like Russia. And India. And in our own backyard. Now I’m depressed.

  1. Wow, what a great idea. I for one, as a bisexual black man would love to live in a world where guys aren’t afraid to be sensitive and emotional in public, where words like “gay” and “faggot” aren’t used in everyday arguments, and its ok for one guy to do something nice for a male stranger like hold a door open or give him a compliment without others feeling awkward about it. Kudos

  2. I also don’t see how it helps. Nor do I see how the other programs are helping. Be nice if they would explain how something done outside of Russia, helps in a country where it’s against the law to even be seen. But I do enjoy watching men kiss!!!!
