Sponsors Pull Advertising From KRXQ

Snapple
You know how Snapple says their product is "Made From the Best Stuff on Earth"? Apparently the recipe for the best stuff involves an intolerance for transphobic bullshit, because the company has pulled their advertising from radio station KRXQ after hearing about the statements made by Rob Williams and Arnie States. Chipotle and Sonic have also pulled their ads.

  1. Good for those companies! Its great to see corporations standing up and saying “NO” to this kind of hatred!

  2. I just read through the links- Snapple, Chipotle and Sonic aren’t the only companies to pull or not renew advertising. Here’s the list so far…
    * Chipotle
    * Snapple
    * Sonic
    * Bank of America
    * Verizon
    * Carl’s Jr (CKE Restaurants)
    * Wells Fargo
    * Nissan North America
    * AT&T
    * McDonald’s
    Who’s left on there advertising list? Is it time to make calls to companies??

  3. As evil/horrible/revolting/whatever people feel the comments were, I’d still conjure it’s better to have people express themselves, hate or not, than to demand they silence their true feelings.
    Would it really be better to have a society where everyone has to keep their mouths shut, never saying what they’d like to say, and loathing the group that forces them to take that position?
    Such repression has morphed open racism from a century ago into a much more sophisticated and troublesome emotion. Now the natural instinct for us to feel more comfortable in homogenized environments manifests through subconscious influence. Minorities here are just as repressed as they were two decades ago, but the causes today are much more difficult to uproot, b/c the actors can’t consciously identify their bias.
    Look to the recent discussions regarding twin love. Medically it’s not any more dangerous than doin it with a non-relative, and emotionally, well, it’s just as dangerous as doin it with a non-relative. But some people are so vehemently appalled by it they’ll swear at complete strangers in their protests. What makes that sentiment more tolerable than a pair of shock jockeys saying they won’t stand for their sons openly trying to be women?
    The answer is nothing, except that the GLBT movement (notice the T) has included within its platform the transgendered movement, and therefore that social fringe is protected.
    Sorry for the rant. Just saying, it would be more productive for these people to be able to express their feelings, and have our community work to open their eyes, than to close ranks and try to steam roll them. That little technique has backfired as of late, and we really need a new tactic that better represents the goal of our intended society.
