Slick Rick Joins Asher Roth for Pro-Gay Hip-Hop Moment

Slick Rick
Rapper Slick Rick is noted most for his 1988 album The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, but has a UK bonus track on Asher Roth's Asleep in the Bread Aisle positioned him as an unlikely gay ally?
The song is called "Y.O.U." and includes a sample from the 1965 Broadway flop Flora, The Red Menace. (which starred Liza Minnelli). The general message of the tune is that "you are you" and shouldn't try to be someone else.
The 44 year-old rapper's verse includes the following line: "Conveying who we all are, how we all fit in this mosaic. Portrait. Theses of a brother–homosexuals be the last pieces of the puzzle. All religion who read divine-type verse, could God want straight folks to get their mind right first?"
Last year, NY Governor David Paterson pardoned Slick Rick for a 1991 attempted murder, so perhaps this is his way of repaying Paterson and contributing to his pro-gay marriage agenda? Kudos to Rick the Ruler! We knew there was more to you than that eye-patch.
