It’s actually about Anna Faris tracking down her exes, after discovering a statistic that “96% of women who have been with twenty or more lovers can’t find a husband”. As you might have guessed, the “number” in the movie’s name refers to the number of guys she’s banged in her lifetime.
So when we ask you what’s your number, what we’re really asking you is… How many men (or women) have you ever slept with? We know, we know! This is an extremely personal question. If it’s too much for you to be honest, feel free to knock a dozen or two off your total.

I think that a person’s number depends on a variety of factors. Age, sex drive, location, background and family history. For some folks 1 person a year might be considered too many. For others, 1 a week isn’t enough. There have been times where I’ve had sex with more than one person in a day. For the past 12 I’ve been in a relationship. Despite that, I’m probably closer to FunBottom. I’ve had lots (& loads) of fun and have generally kept a healthy outlook on sex and sexual pursuits.
