No More Sal On Mad Men

Bryan

Sad news for fans of AMC's hit series Mad Men. After getting the boot from Sterling Cooper towards the end of the third season, Bryan Batt's character Salvatore Romano won't be returning to the show. “I was supposed to be notified by December 31," he told TV Guide. "And nothing."

The show's creator Matthew Weiner has this to say: "I know how people felt about Bryan. I obviously love working with him, and he has been an indelible character since the pilot. But I felt it was an expression of the times that he couldn’t work there anymore. It’s the ultimate case of sexual harassment."

For those of you who watch Mad Men, what do you think of this development? Do you think there's any chance that Sal will return in future episodes, or is this a complete end to his plotline?

  1. Really? That sucks.
Well, in theory, anyway. I’ve only ever actually seen one or two episodes (plus that hot Sal/bellboy clip you posted earlier).
I can understand the reasoning behind it, though. Gay Italian in the ’60s? You know things were gonna go bad for him sooner or later.

  2. !!!!! I’m devastated !!!! 🙁 This really sucks… but it does kind of make sense. They couldn’t bring him back to Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, so keeping him in the show would have been too difficult… booo! So we’re stuck with the dumb european guy now? Meh… still, awesome show. WATCH IT.

  3. He should be brought back. It would fit into the new plot line. They don’t have an art director and he had forward thinking ideas to bring the agency into the vibrant 1960’s. Hopefully they will reconsider their decision.
