  1. I LOVE this show. I think there is alittle Eddy and Patsey in all of us! Gay or straight we can all think of a moment when we wanted to act or react like them. Sweetie!

  2. Have loved this show since it came to the US on Comedy Central! Knitting needle!  OMG and have since introduced my partner to it and he’s a full on  ABFAB junkie.

  3. British humor is definitely an acquired taste and sometimes the accents and rapid delivery make the lines hard to understand.

  4. It certainly is.  It has a unique combination of subtlety and over-the-top, on such classic programs as Fawlty Towers, Are You Being Served, The Vicar of Dibley, Keeping Up Appearances, and The Office.  After I had the chance of watching the original British version of The Office, I could not take the American one; it just wasn’t the same in quality, casting, acting, etc.  Even British commercials have that funny nack of doing it right.

  5. by far one of the most hysterical shows ever produced. It was originally supposed to be subtitled for the American ear, but thankfully never was; equally as thankful that FOX decided against an American version; as did Roseanne. This show has probably the most profound one liners in comedic history. Jennifer Saunders is probably a genius. For those who think you have to be  in a drunken drugged induced coma to get it: you’re probably the only one’s that would need to be to see the brilliance in this show. 20th  anniversary specials: oh, wait we have that…the Simpsons , yes, American TV: Quality…Housewives, Jersey Shore, information shows that tell stay at home moms what they should be doing…yeah, we got it.

  6. EXCELLENT reply. The interesting thing about Roseanne & AbFab, now that October is soon in coming, is that Edina and Patsy had to share screentime on a Halloween episode next to jokes about The Nanny and guest appearences by Marlo Thomas, Jim J. Bullock, and Kathleen Freeman (Gremlins 2, Tales from the Crypt, and a ton of comedies) among others. They were only given half the episode to rope in U.S. viewers, and competing with a sloshed Roseanne ranting about Kathy Lee Gifford. Not that anyone liked sloshed Roseanne better, but no one was going to be able to so much as see E&P through all that noise.

I agree Saunders is incredible. At first, I was blown away by her performance but now all I can think about is how damn well she wrote the show. Even on season 4 (the DVD audio commentary helps shed some light on all the things I was confused about when I first watched it on Comedy Central). Season 5 was amazing and White Box was such a killer ending for the show. Now that it’s coming back… I can’t wait to see what they’ll come up with. (I can wait but thinking about it makes me excited.)
