Manhunt is Going Down (And Not The Fun Way)

Oops! Manhunt will be down today for a short period of time. We’re pushing through a few minor updates  so the site won’t be available for an hour or two. And who knows? It may not even take that long. Hopefully the hottie above will keep you entertained until the site is back up. Thanks for your patience!

UPDATE: Sorry guys! We had to take the site down again, but we’re working quickly to get it back up.

  1. this can’t b done in the middle of the night? as i said before i would have fired your IT people long ago.

  2. it’s BS
you always do it at this time. it seems like it was just a few weeks ago it was down at this time. you should be doing it in the 3-6am time slot. I paid to use this site when I want. It just pisses me off

    rich-

  3. With the MILLIONS of dollars you inhale with memberships to this website, one would think that these sorts of things would not be necessary. FIRE the IT personell or, do this sort of thing in the wee hours. Its annoying.

  4. You do realize that even more people would be pissed off if they took the site offline between 3-6AM. That’s when all the late night cocksuckers are looking for the last hurrah!

PLus who’s looking for cock at 11 on a weekday? Some people have jobs.

  5. Have you considered that this time frame is when the fewest people are online? I guarantee that Manhunt IT knows when the most people are on and when the fewest people are online.

3AM – 6AM is probably one of the busier times for Manhunt. Thats when the bars are closed and all the guys who didn’t get any are looking and when the partiers are the most tweaked out and looking for yet another anonymous, unsafe sexual experience.

If Manhunt didn’t regularly do updates the same people would be screaming about that!

Go jerk off for an hour and come back and continue your search for sex then.

  6. This is the 2nd time today and it hasn’t been for an hr at a time all is cool with being offline but, why do we as a premium members have to pay for it since we don’t get a prorated day because of the loss of 3 or more hours just like when the have free weekend we don’t get it for free ? Manhunt.net nets in millions of dollars and we the premium members have to pay for the upkeep and updating

  7. Coming up on hour four of no service. The MH management needs to understand that their IT staff do this type of “update” nonsense to defendd their reason to stay employeed.

    FIRE ‘EM!!!

  8. A short time my foot! It’s been down most of the day! Are you going to credit the paying members for your “time down” to update? If I can’t sign onto your site, then it’s not worth the money to pay for it!

  9. man… im so missing you guys right now,
i know you guys working so hard to keep this site going, great job.
cant wait to see ur back on…..

  10. good god guys – go do some damn laundry, wash the dog, change your sheets…. you’ll survive

  11. I’ve got a suggestion why not do things like this during the middle of the night when there are fewer people trying to get online???

  12. As you gents know I am a big fan,and appreciate all help ,and great job you do.
however each time you change something add something its coxtin you but also Me money and time. i have join new setups you have created and paid but never get to use them. when will you start giving back some free addon ? its customer retantion not important? Or are you just too busy counting the money…….
    ramey

  13. your site is being to suck hard…..way too slow and too many outages. Get it together if you want my membership $

  14. Wow. Quit being a little beiotch about a site being down for a little bit. If you could do a better job well step up. Any normal guy would understand that, and its not like you are paying $100 a month or so. Just suck it up and this is typically the slowest time of the day. Because as many have said thus far, it’s in the middle of the day and most people are not on. Heck check this place out @ 330am. Hmm packed in all areas. Then you would be upset then. Just be happy when it comes back online and go do something in the meantime. Heck things happen and stuff gets stalled and messed up. Thats part of being human. Put on your big boy pants and grow up.

  15. Are there policies that remunerate customers
when down periods exceed a particular period of time?

    Boger

  16. Same old story. “minor” enhancements and the site is down for hours. But hey, at least this time they posted something like 30 minutes before saying the not too funny anymore “we’re going down on you guys”.

I voted with my wallet a long time ago….freebie membership or the $15 special for 90 days that they seem to be offering a lot lately. Must be the loss of membership?!!!!!

I’m sure you’ll delete this given censorship policies of Manhunt but I’ll give it the college try that you can take legit criticism.

  17. Why don’t you guys just take things into your own hands once and a while……or better yet…say prayer or 2 during down time and thank God for what you have!

  18. I’m home early from work for a change and bought some astrolube looking to pull out my cock and chat with some guys and…BAM! under construction….i need a regular boyfriend with a big dick…..oh well.

  19. Funny I was having problems all day logging on.. I sent an email and was told to clear my cache. I guess your IT folks don’t have a clue 🙂 This is what I get for 12:95 per month.

  20. I agree with the other comments. Short of a major unplanned emergency, this is unacceptable. I used to manage a website for a nonprofit, and even our crappy IT people would shut down the site late at night or early a.m. It’s the middle of the day, and I want to use my pAID membership to be on MH. By the way, it’s been nearly 2 hours already.

  21. 3:37PM Update – Customer Service now has a recorded message saying “unexpected” and we’re working HARD on it, but we’ll have it up and running “shortly”.

So bottom line for PAYING CUSTOMERS, you’ve been denied service since 10AM this morning and now restoration in site. You also don’t get to talk live with Customer Service since those guys get pissy like an 80 yr old queen when you say WTF on it not being fixed and no estimate.

Vote with your wallets or pocketsbooks folks = send a LOUD and CLEAR message that kind of crap customer service isn’t worth paying for.

  22. 8:30 Eastern update – a new gay man’s record – Manhunt is still going down! ooops, I mean down.

“unexpected” issues my ass. Think about the marvelous upgrade crap they tried to sell and the site was down for days. Their IT should have been fired after that fiasco and I’m sure they just renewed their contract automatically.

Guess what I suspected all along – they are a bunch of profit driven bastards. Renew? Not for even 1/2 off ever again.

  23. 9PM Eastern – it is up and running!!!

Lovely 11 hours of “down” time. Can’t wait for the “gee we’re sorry we fucked yup with our incompetent IT department once again” type message. I won’t hold my breath.

  24. Let me get this straight: if the site was down for eleven hours, how was everyone able to post comments all day long? Check the time stamps, people. I was talking to a friend around 6:00pm eastern who was telling me all about the posts he was reading. Plus, I can’t believe nobody mentioned the flag-draped cutie at the beginning of this all!!!

  25. i would think any updates should be done in the middle of the night, other sites i have log ons for do that, netflix, bear411…..so why can’t manhunt?? day time updates are bad for 2 reasons, 1 LOTS of people signed on, and 2 lots of people signed on.

  26. Jeremys – manhuntdaily.com was up and running; manhunt.net was down for hours hence the postings here.

my email to the ManhuntServiceMan regarding “some answers” on what happened? UNREAD as of 7:45AM this morning.

If it were a free site then there would be a lot fewer complaints, but many of us are paying members and this chronic IT situation that most times you get NO notice of taking it down for repairs and their estimates of how long are never right. And when it’s days out of service…any other company it would be looking for changes in management team in my opinion. Obviously privately owned with a “we don’t give a crap” attitude.

  27. Hey! All these people suggesting to do maintenance at certain times, are you a bunch of selfish idiots? Which time zone did you think of? Your own? Ever considered that there are Hunters of Man all over the world? In all time zones?

Of course, if I could get on at least once every few days it would be nice! This down thing every time I try is getting annoying!

  28. Hi guys,

We apologize again for yesterday’s outage. Whenever scheduled site updates are going to result in downtime, we always provide advance notice on Manhunt.net and the Daily with our best guess at how long the site will be unavailable. Sometimes those estimates are off. Yesterday’s hour of planned downtime ended up being more like three hours – which is still a far cry from the “11 hours” cited by one commenter, but it’s downtime nonetheless and we’re genuinely sorry about the delay in getting the site back up.

As for the timing – obviously, there’s no time period we could choose that would make everyone happy, but since Manhunt’s busiest hours are evenings into the early hours of the morning, 10 am is probably the time when the fewest users will be inconvenienced.

For those of you with paid accounts, please contact Customer Service (support@manhunt.net), and we’re happy to give you a free day of membership.

    Thanks,
    Adam

  29. Well i have checked a few times recently early in the morning, when getting up for work and it seems the count is around 24,000, about 10,000 less then during the day. Guess that arguement goes out the window.

  30. To Manhunt CEO: 10am in which timezone?
To Martin: Ditto! 10am in which timezone?

And guys, please, there’s no point in referring to your little abbreviations or code names that only those there understand.

Just refer to how many hours ahead or behind UTC. Some examples:
    Sydney is UTC+10
    Singapore is UTC+8
    Delhi is UTC+5.5
    Cape Town is UTC+2
London is UTC, by the way!
    Sao Paulo is UTC-2
And I think that New York is UTC-4
    And so on…

Thanks for trying to accommodate most of the world, we do appreciate it! A little understanding goes a long way to appreciating…

  31. If this were a one off, or say, once a year….no problem. Updates and offline improvements are to be expected. But for those of us who been here a few years, the performance slow down (pretty much everyday), the glitchy code that makes us want to scream, a barely functioning IM service all add up to sucky customer service. Remember when the current version of the site was upload, that was pretty much a waste of a month’s membership. Offline site testing by a study group, then a beta test for the adventurous? No, we must all suffer because gay.com is not really competition enough to keep MH on its toes (it had its day in the sun, too). Maybe one day an sharp investor will come along and create a truly dynamic site with great customer service truly deserving of its membership fees and the only thing we will have to bitch about are the attitudes of half the men who show up there.
