MANHUNT Cares: It’s The Little Prick You Can Deal With

Little_prick_3

It’s the Little Prick You Can Deal With is a great campaign by the Seattle/King County Department of Health. The campaign is a very clever
play on words that stresses that all it takes to know your HIV status
is a little prick of the finger.

The campaign is trying to get out the message that testing is vital
and that for sexually active gay men, every three months is the way to
go! In their own words:

  1. In the last year, have you had anal sex without a condom with a man who is HIV-positive or whose   HIV status you didn’t know?
  2. In the last year, have you had gonorrhea, syphilis or chlamydia?
  3. Have you used crystal meth or poppers in the last year?

If one or more answers are YES:

  • You should get tested every 3 months
  • If you are worried about a specific risk event, get tested one month after exposure (or after 2 weeks) for RNA testing. You may need to get retested at 3 months to be sure of your results.

If you answered NO to all questions: You should get an HIV test every 6 to 12 months.

So there you go, heed their words and get tested!
