The group also included Capt. Jim Pietrangelo IIPetty Officer Autumn Sandeen, Cpl. Evelyn Thomas, Cadet Mara Boyd, and Petty Officer Larry Whitt. This marks the second time Choi and Pietrangelo have faced such charges, after they both handcuffed themselves to the same fence last month.

  1. I am in the military, and honestly, I feel pity and I think their action is a disgrace. I would not under any circumstance serve under Lt Choi. Not because he’s gay (I am), but to chain himself in uniform to protest and demand his superior in public to do something is… ugh…
They already made progress last month to make DADT a policy that will be hard to enforce and initiate, causing people like me to feel a lot better about the coming months. If he’d been in the military a bit longer he’d know that things take time, and although I don’t want to wait much longer either, this is definitely not the way to do things.
What would you do if in a gigantic corporation they would make a policy to cover cleavage and someone chained themselves to corporate headquarters to demand change. No, thanks Choi for your efforts, I think I’m better off w/o you…

  2. DADT is a important issue but 4give me when I say I do not believe DADT should be priority ONE 4 this President with issue such as economy, 2 wars, global warming, terrorism, foreign affairs & many other issue of grave importance DADT although it must ( shall be ) repealed it is not & should not be priority ONE …

  3. When you take on the responsibility of wearing the unifrom in any country you should be doing it for one reason. That is for the belief and ideal your country stands for. Your rights are in trouble agreed. But what he has done has disgraced his unifrom and the MILLIONS AND BILLIONS of his country who have served and passed away. i am sure things happened that they didnt agree with. But you can voice your opionion but you dont disgrace your unifrom. I serve and i would NEVER DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT in my uniform.

  4. While I believe DADT is a terrible, discriminatory policy that needs to be reversed, I agree that Dan Choi (who chose to be in the military) should have some respect for the office he holds and the uniform he is wearing. I think he is out for his 15 minutes of fame. His story has been all over the networks and cable and I think he lavishes in the attention. As a side note, muttha fucka is too ugly to be famous – lol.

  5. Why is it that this nation is first to justify war to defend its ideals, and yet protest is sooo frowned upon.
If the government wasn’t swayed so much more when it is a potential PR issue then a matter of basic civil rights, thats the disgrace, not a man who rightfully protested his rights.
Remember, his tax dollars paid for that fence, and the police officers that arrested him.
The argument that our Congress has more important things on their plate is ridiculous. With the amount of time they spent pork barreling their way with our tax money:
    10. A $427,824 research grant to design better video games for senior citizens based on their unique “game-play needs”.
    9. Funding of a Dartmouth College study involving “sexual arousal in anesthetized female rats” ($9,870).
    8. Funding of a $168,300 SBA loan to the Escape Massage parlor in Midlothian, VA.
    7. Funding a $447,492 Univ. of North Carolina study on the development and use of “African American English” amongst 70 adolescents.
    6. $10,346 for a heating and cooling company to provide “escort services” for other companies performing a laser scanning survey at a courthouse in Honolulu, Hawaii.
    5. An academic study comparing outcomes of the concurrent and separate use of malt liquor and marijuana ($389,357).
    4. A $225,000 study at Ohio State University on the relative and combined impacts of air pollution and a high fat diet on obesity development.
    3. A $712,883 research grant to develop “machine-generated humor“. Project will design artificially intelligent “comedic performance agents”, and will “deploy them both on and off-line for the enjoyment and illumination of everyday citizens”.
    2. A $54 million project to relocate one bridge for the Napa Valley Wine Train (!) in order to mitigate the possible impact of a “100 year storm event”.
And the number one most ridiculous use of stimulus funds…
    1. $9.3 million (!) to fund the design and development of a “coordinated colony of robotic bees“

  6. ClosetReader: I doubt that you have a college degree, but in the unlikely event that you do, you should probably ask for a refund.

  7. Blah Blah Blah, Disgrace? The intiation of this policy is a disgrace? Better Things? Sure, But Why Not Remove The Minor Ones While We’re In The Process? Respect to the uniform or Rexpect To oneself, I Shall choose myself. Why I Am Not In The Military or Ever Will!

  8. ClosetReader: I agree with U entirely on the fact that our Goverment waste countless billions of taxpayer dollars on stupid shit however what does that have 2 do with DADT !!!

  9. Lt Choi is now a fucking Disgrace to me, it may not be moving fast enough, but you have a choice to be in the military or not, you are asked if you are Gay or not, and if you like the military that much dont come out till DADT is Repealed, how many 15 min does he want!!!!
