Lady Gaga Makes A Phone Call To Strike Down “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”

Lady Gaga got out her teleprompter and filmed a lengthy PSA supporting the fight to repeal the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell law. In the video, Gaga talks about meeting with former US soldiers who were kicked out of the military due to the controversial law and hearing their personal stories. She notes her surprise at the fact that these former servicemen and women, despite their ouster from the military, collectively expressed how much they missed serving and defending our country despite what happened to them.

Looking like a drag Reservoir Dog, Gaga also places calls to both of the senators in her district for our benefit. Sadly (and perhaps tellingly), she’s unable to get in touch with either office. Hopefully that isn’t the case for the rest of us…

  1. I’m all for what she’s doing, but it just all seemed so forced. I would’ve liked it more if she wasn’t reading off cue cards and just spoke from the heart, but it’s cool. Go GaGa!

  2. this is totally from the heart… she was reading to make sure she got all the details right… she doesnt do anything she doesnt believe in 100%

gaga is the best thing that ever happened to the celebrity world. She speaks out and puts her fame to really good political use to defend US… gay people… so lets not have any glimmers of negativity about her ok…

    she is amazing

  3. The fact that she gives two fu*ks about the gay and lesbian community is commendable. Look at other gay icons and you’ll see very little political action from any of them. Madonna has said very little lately about issues like DADT and equality. Elton John? -not so much. Thank you for everything you do for our community Lady Gaga!

  4. “Looking like a drag Reservoir Dog” Was that really needed, she has done a lot for our community, and yeah she makes money off her weird style gimmicks but why the need for the media and bloggers to always attack her….band together not break apart, stop tearing people down, and just start dialing!

  6. Anyone who actually believes she is doing this for more than the sole purpose of publicity and trying to appeal to her biggest fan base. All celebrities are celebrities because they have strong need to have attention put on them and this is a great example of that. Sorry to break all the Gaga bubbles, but that is the reality of it.

  7. In response to the previous two posts, I would rather see a celebrity who does something positive for the gay community even for publicity reasons than a celebrity who does nothing at all

  8. Is it Adopt-a-Cause season in Hollywood?

Sorry if i sound biased on this, but gaga, this issue has been on the block for years…and only now you are shocked about gay ex-servicemen and women missing their desire to serve. Sure, better late than never. But I’d rather hear the injustices from people who have served instead of from another celebrity dimwit.

  9. Why is everyone so cynical? Sure, Gaga has a HUGE gay fanbase, but not all her fans are gay. Using her celebrity to help out with a cause like this should be commended, regardless of whether she’s doing it just for publicity.

The fact of the matter is, she’s getting attention diverted to the issue: bringing kicked out service members to the VMAs, doing this PSA, etc. And the more attention is given to this issue, and how just wrong it is, the better.
