Lady Gaga Flies (Literally) Into Central Park

This could have been an unmitigated disaster, but she pulled it off. Lady Gaga ZIPLINED into her Good Morning America concert in Central Park this morning. Click on the link below to watch. Does anyone else get nervous with this sort of thing live? You keep waiting for something to go horribly wrong. The wire could snap, and a pretentious blur of red and white fabric would plummet and kill some poor New Jerseyite who took off work to camp out with the other little monsters.

  1. I really like her. I do not always love every song she puts out, but music aside, she is an inspirational person. She takes the time to fight for our rights and be on our side, which is a wonderful thing. I never understood why some gays get up in arms and criticize, she is doing more than any celebrity out their and her message reaches more people than anyone else. The only people doing more than here are those that have gay rights activism as a full time job. She is doing more than me and she is certainly doing more than anyone who posts a silly comment on here.

Anyone still wasting their breath bashing her just hasn’t taken the time to really figure out how much she does. She could have picked any cause and she has picked the LGBT community. I appreciate her as an ally.

  2. Sorry to be one of those gays, but we are a huge market. Her team isn’t dumb. “Hey, speak to the people who feel that they’re left out, and you’ll sell millions.” It worked. I personally think she lacks creativity, I was on board during “The Fame” because I felt she was genuine. Now, not so much, a bunch of shitty music and crazy antics, a lot of face paint, and different weaves. She can really sing, I just think her persona is more known than her voice now.

  3. If her “persona” is pro-acceptance, that is fine by me. You can sit in the corner though if you want.

  4. She’s not the spokesperson for gay rights, if you look at it would you expect anything less from a artist as big as she is? If you strip away all the dramatics and shock factor shit, she’s  mediocre at best.

  5. Umm, Madonna is a huge “borrower” as well.  One man’s ‘stealing’ is anothers ‘homage’.  Grace Jones really isn’t as original as everyone would make her out to be either, as her theatrics are but a cross of Marlene Dietrch and Josephine Baker.

I  love Grace and Madonna, but I love GaGa as well.  She has brought pop music back to a place where it’s at least interesting again.  She is a fantastic singer and a musician to boot. (Grace Jones as far as I know can’t play an instrument, and Madonna only learned guitar so she wouldn’t have to dance so much in her shows).  She deserves her props for speaking out for our causes, for being more than appreciative to her fans, and for putting a pop song that gives shoutouts to gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgenders at #1 for 6 weeks.  When has Madonna, Grace Jones, Mariah Carey, Rhianna, or any other of our ‘diva’s’ ever done that?

  6. Stop drinking the gaga kool aid. So what she gave a shout out to gays, ect. She sure as hell isn’t the first.

  7. I don’t ever remembering hearing any top 40 song that portrayed gays in a positive, and empowering light. I do however hear no homo all the time, and other songs that speak of homosexuality in a negative connotation. So though I am a fan, her message is amazing. If you think about it, I mean I do feel a little more proud when I am sitting in the barbor shop and hear
“no matter gay straight or bi, lesbian transgendered life…” Someone please tell me the last time anyone has done that before?
