It Gets Better Because Chase Utley Is Really Hot

The “It Gets Better” campaign is a noble endeavor. Famous people letting LGBT kids know that it’s ok to be themselves and that there’s a much better existence outside of whatever hell they’re living in due to cowardly assholes is rad.

With that out of the way, who else wants to blow Chase Utley of the Philadelphia Phillies? He pops up in the Phillies’ “It Gets Better vid,” and you know Google was all “settle down, kid!” at me. That’s because I practically knocked it out in my race to try and find nude photos of the second baseman. Couldn’t find any. Doesn’t he know he’s supposed to have at least one dick shot? The MLB should require this.

My inner teenager who still has some misgivings and fears about growing up gay in a fairly heterosexist world is totally crushing on Mr. Utley. A famous jock letting me know he’s gay friendly is…pleasant. And sort of a turn-on. Yeah, someone in the Phillies organization probably made him do this as a PR stunt, but I’ll just accept it at face value. And picture Chase telling me it’s ok to be gay, and then wondering aloud what it’s like to fool around with a dude, and then we go into the lockerroom…

  1. He is hot – but the commentary quickly took a very cool thing – a sports athlete giving back to the LGBT community and made it cheap.  With something like this did it quickly and automatically have to go to sex?  Why not use the commentary to encourage other gay athletes to make a video of their own instead of asking why Chase doesn’t have nude pics?  Sad very very sad.

  2. SirBrad makes a nice point but JT nailed it with “this is Manhunt”. These blogs are about guys and sex. This isn’t a political forum, nor a hook-up valet service, or even really deep for that matter. If you want hard hitting journalism or powerful social issue discussion, you’re in the wrong place. Bring on the dick. Especially if it’s attached to the uber sexy Mr. Utley.

  3. UGH. STOP. if “this is Manhunt” then DON’T TALK ABOUT ‘IT GETS BETTER’

That’s what a straight man gets for being supportive of the gay community? We talk about wanting to fuck him? Thanks for doing your part to justify homophobia, I guess…

  4. Why would you focus on anything else besides the dick (or ass) on a site that’s devoted specifically to that?  It’s not simple minded if you come here to get a nice boner, it’s using your resources wisely.

  5. What’s with the pessimism, thinking that Utley making the video is a PR stunt?  Pro athletes don’t have to be homophobic, or even indifferent to the plight of bullying.  It’s very possible that Utley has a gay family member and this is his public way of showing support.

  6. JamieB, I really don’t need your judgments projected onto me so please keep them to yourself. I have lots of interests but I don’t come to Manhunt to get my world news updates. It’s not just about the dick being out but rather being aware of the forum I’m in and not expecting it to be something other than what it is. This site is about men, dicks and ass with a sprinkling of fun here and there. To become upset for it not being something other than that is a waste of energy.

  7. Not exactly surprising, this is Manhunt. They proved long ago they don’t give a shit about the LGBT community, we’re nothing but cash cows to them.

  8. *When Pure Insatiable Slut-ness Desire Clashes with Gay Political Agenda*

Its gets [even] better [gay drama]. Popcorn, anyone?

  9. Manhunt would not be where it is today if the powers that be didn’t (homo)sexualize every article  they wrote. Manhunt Daily taking on issues as….

Bullying = code word for stand up for yourself and fight, but please be hung.

AIDS: Manhunt Daily interpretation = sorry for your loss, but it would help us get the message across better if we had nude pictures of him before he got sick.

Potpourri stories on compassion: what Manhunt Daily really means is, Check out the bull balls on some hot dude down on his luck.

Yes, the majority of topics are on hot men. Great. That being the case, why does Manhunt bother to address social topics important to the community by sexualizing its message. I’m no saint, here, but is it really necessary to always put a penis to a face? whoops, but seriously, you get the idea.

  10. It doesn’t always get better. Not for a lot of people, straight or gay. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Look at the bullying that goes on right here on this site. If you don’t fit into a certain mindset held by either side, straight or gay, face it; you’re the ugly puppy no one wants. I can understand trying to give someone hope and to help them want to live life. I’m all for that. But do we do it by lying to them? Maybe giving them the tools to help them deal with not fitting in would be a better solution. Just a thought.

  11. Not hardly. My sentence said “a simple minded gay” implying that there are other gays, and he is a simple minded one. Now had I said “here’s a prime example that gays are simple minded” then you can say that I’m generalizing.

  12. I’m not saying that you are upset, Jamie. That was more about guys whining about this site not fulfilling their every need (not just in this post but generally), whatever it is, rather than just appreciating the site for what it is. “It should have been this” or “he should look like that” or “I wish that they would have…”. It’s a sex site. Period.

Help me understand something however, you were pointing out my objectification by calling me  “a simple minded gay”? And who’s message do you think I’m disregarding? I’m agreeing with them both.

  13. “Bring on the dick. Especially if it’s attached to the uber sexy Mr. Utley.” Your words. Which says you don’t really care what Mr. Utley’s message to younger gays is, you just want to see his dick. That’s a pretty simpleton statement. Well at least to me, but obviously not for you.

  14. Did you even read the text in the original post? Me saying that I want to see his dick does in no way mean that I don’t care about his message. That’s your stuff being projected onto my words and not a true expression of my beliefs. Yes, I want to see his cock. Yes, I think he is sexy. Yes, I support the “It gets better” project.

Bottom line is that I don’t really care what you think of me. You hold no importance in my life. Those thoughts have more to do with you and your judgments than they do with me. I’m also not interested in quibbling with you on this any further.

  15. Regardless of the arguments, it’s the thought that counts. Thank you, Phillies! Now, who’s ready to step up to the plate next?
