Yes, Josh Hutcherson is straight (but not narrow -that’s the point). Yes, maybe we should be giving awards to actual GAY PEOPLE who are advancing the cause of equal rights (I should note that Chaz Bono received an award at the 2012 GLAAD Media Awards this past weekend as well). Yes, they give it to a celebrity because it gets GLAAD publicity (which is necessary). But hearing Hutcherson talk about the two uncles he lost to AIDS, and his mom’s influence on him, and how he proud he feels to receive the GLAAD Vanguard Award temporarily quiets the cynic in me. He comes off as genuine. You don’t see a lot of extremely successful (Hunger Games) straight actors starting campaigns to urge straight guys to accept gay people. Plus he said this:
“I’m so sick of saying the words gay and lesbian. Can we just — people. I’m so tired of that. One day I want my son to come home from school and be like, I found this guy and I love him. And I’m gonna be like yes, you do, and that’s okay.”
Correct. Now that we’ve established the actual reasons we should be admiring this earnest young man, I can point out that he’s the only reason I saw Hunger Games. Yes, I enjoyed the books and was already firmly #TeamPeeta. But he was the draw. And after seeing him onscreen, I wanted to take out the rest of #TeamPeeta so he would only see me and then we would engage in some fantastical and sweaty celebrity/#1 fan sex. By “take out”, I don’t mean murder. I mean giving them the wrong directions to our annual #TeamPeeta convention so I could be alone with him. I’m horny, not crazy.

Chaz Bono is NOT gay or lesbian either. Chaz – as a transexual – is now a man who is attracted to women. That makes him straight. Perhaps there is a “Straight Alliance Against Defamation” that should be giving him awards. He certainly doesn’t represent me or my issues as a gay man.
Oh, Josh. Let’s go see an off-broadway play together. I’d suggest pool and beers, but I don’t want to stereotype you. #gaynotnarrow

GLAAD is for LGBT , which I think Chaz definitely belong by any definition. It’s not like they are inducting Chaz into Gay Men’s Chorus Hall of Fame.
I never really think he’s a sweet kid but not that good looking until he go blond for Hunger Games. Man, he’s smoking rocking that blond hair. He should just stick with it. (And yeah, he’s a great guy too, but I’m having a shallow moment. LOL)
