Hot Or Not: Professional Wrestlers

I’m not talking about your Olympic wrestler-types like stocky mat god Ben Provisor (Ben Provisor, ssswwwoooonnnn). I’m talking beefy dudes in gaudy spandex, acting out scripts on a stage they like to call the “squared circle!” The guys who wrestle for the WWE!

I bring this up because the biggest pro wrestling organization in the world, the WWE, recently revealed that they are committed to LGBT inclusion. Not exactly known for even-handedness in their previous attempts at working queer elements into their sweaty stage show, one of their execs says that they plan to do better by us.

WWE brand manager (and daughter of WWE head Vince McMahon) Stephanie McMahon says they don’t have definite plans yet. But she did tell NBC Out (via People) that it’s being considered for the future.

“When it makes sense, absolutely we will integrate LGBT characters into our programming,” she said backstage. While the WWE doesn’t have imminent plans, McMahon believes there will be an opportunity for an LGBT storyline in the “near future.”

We look forward to that. We especially look forward to that if the characters are male, built, and stuffed into very skimpy trunks. We’re all for making strides as long as it gives us a boner.
