HIV Is Still A Big Deal

ManhuntCares

Thought we were finished talking about World AIDS Day? Well, you thought wrong. Exactly a year ago, our dear friends at Manhunt Cares partnered with the HIV Big Deal campaign (click here if you haven’t seen the original video series) to send out a broadcast to Manhunt‘s membership.

In a new segment by In The Life, the innovative web-series’ success is examined a year after it was released. Manhunt is mentioned more than a few times, and the segment even includes a few of the e-mails that you sent us. After you’ve checked out the video, we encourage you to share your feedback or general reflections on Worlds AIDS Day in the comments section. This isn’t a time to be shy, guys!

  1. Part of the reason it is still a big deal is also ignorance within the gay community. Hence the supposedly “negative” guys claiming they are DISEASE free. Nice – sure as hell hope they don’t catch high blood pressure, diabetes or any other DISEASE. Be diplomatic and just state you are hiv- and drop the “diseased” piece.
Remember, not everyone that contracts/contracted hiv virus had a partner that was HONEST about their status – speak from personal experience.
And Manhunt”Cares” = when will you give an option to select positive vs. positive/undetectable? There IS a difference yet despite months of promises to add it as an honest drop down selection it remains missing in action.
I am honest about my status = I find it morally offensive those guys that state NEGATIVE and are just flat out lying to avoid all those with profiles saying “disease free only”.
Bottom line…assume ALL are poz and practice safe sex with any online romp. When you are entering a committed relationship then you need a very different and honest conversation.

  2. Yeah, it’s scary to realize how scarce common sense can be sometimes. It’s really disturbing when a guy on MH says, “Are you neg? … Me, too. Good, then we don’t have to use a condom.”

  3. getting tested and having safer sex is the way to go. also there are some other scary stds that are floating around even if a guy says hes hiv-, he may have genital warts or something else, so best to practise safer sex

  4. Well said, WH. HIV/AIDS is something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. And before I was diagnosed, I too did it with only “negative” guys. OOPS!
Guys, always play safe, and get tested regularly. Remember, you may test negative for months after you’re infected. A negative test doesn’t mean zero virus in your body.

  5. It’s amazing 2 think that some People assume that because someone states that he is negative or date last tested is certification enough 4 having unprotected sex I mean after all this is M/H not the HOLY GRAIL !!! BTW watching B/B sex is 1 thing FUCKING B/B is another just because we see someone jump off a bridge on television dose not mean we go out and jump off a bridge the next day.

  6. If you are in uncomfortable position and have no money to go out from that point, you will have to receive the loans. Because it would help you definitely. I take sba loan every single year and feel myself OK because of that.
