He’s Gay: Kevin Grayson

Jason Collins put a big crack in the “There are no highly visible athletes that are gay, nope, no sir, not in our locker room!” dam. And now more cracks are appearing! Pretty soon it will be a flash flood of gay jocks! Unless some fool puts his finger in the dyke. Wow, this went astray. Kevin Grayson is a former college football star and NFL hopeful and he’s into dudes.

Grayson was a huge football hero for the University of Richmond in Virginia. You sporty types can translate his accomplishments for us (via Queerty):

Grayson, 25, was named all district and all-region while playing both offense and defense in high school, then in college he helped the University of Richmond win the 2008 Football Championship Subdivision national title. At Richmond, he is still ranked second all-time among receivers in receptions, yards and touchdowns.

He missed the NFL draft due to a torn ligament, but went on to play overseas and was named MVP of his league’s Superbowl in Italy. Grayson says he didn’t come out publicly until now because he was more focused on playing. But it ended up being a huge relief when he told his teammates.

“If you are an athlete, you want to be an athlete,” he said. “You want to be known for what you’ve done on the basketball court, football field, tennis court, whatever. It’s like the biggest weight lifted off your shoulder,” he said. “To know that you have a teammate that basically says ‘I don’t care.’”

The bad news? He’s got a boyfriend. All the good ones are taken. Or idiots.
