Georgia Govt Gets A Dash Of LGBT Diversity

Georgia, Simone Bell, Alex Wan, city council, state legislator, African-American, Asian-American, elected, voters, diversity, New York Senate, marriage equality debate

Good news from down south! Yesterday, voters in Georgia elected the nation's first openly lesbian African-American state legislator, and Atlanta voted in the first gay man and first Asian-American to their city council. Say hello to Simone Bell and Alex Wan, because they'll be working it out in the Peach State. Thanks to Wonder Man for the tip!

It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to see this sort of stuff happening, to the point that I almost can deal with the New York Senate's ridiculous delay on a marriage equality vote. They're supposedly debating the issue this morning, but I'm not keeping my fingers crossed…
