Florence + The Machine: “Jackson” (MTV Unplugged)

Following in the footsteps of Eric Clapton, Nirvana and Lauryn Hill is certainly no easy feat, yet it’s safe to say that, within today’s current musical climate, Florence Welch is a perfect candidate for MTV’s Unplugged series. Not only does she possess the pipes to deliver a great live performance, but her captivating stage presence provides her with the ability to bring the house all the way down.

Though it appears that we’ll have to wait until April 21st to see the full show, hardcore fans might be able to find a way around that! The combination DVD/CD release is currently available for pre-order here, scheduled to ship out twelve days before the official premiere. Good stuff!

The set list includes nine original songs and two covers. Beyond Flo’s take on Otis Redding‘s “Try A Little Tenderness”, she also teamed up with Queens of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme to bring Johnny Cash and June Carter realness to the classic track “Jackson”. Would you like to hear that now? Well, good news! You can.

  1. At first I was super surprised no one mentioned wanting to fuck Josh Homme, then I realized how long it’s been since he was the super hot, super tall redhead multi-instrumentalist behind all my favorite musical projects. Sad day.

  2. I’m not a big fan of Florence but Jackson is one of my favorite songs and she nailed it!  And thanks for posting some music other than hip hop/r&b,  not all gay guys are club queens.
