Drawn To You: Silencio

Giant penises! Now that I’ve got your attention, let’s talk about the self-proclaimed “gay geek art” of Silencio. Coincidentally, this involves a whole lot of giant penises, except they’re all attached to muscular men of a fantastical nature. It’s enough to make you wish you lived in the pages of a comic book!

Silencio’s primary focus is a series called Dungeon Guards, full of well-hung heroes getting into all sorts of trouble. The characters have all been featured in a large, panoramic poster, which you can see at the end of this post. Yes, I realize this isn’t necessarily “fine art”, but what do you think of his work?

  1. his artwork is incredible. i actually feel like the penises ruin it though. they seem out of place. if he included them in more realistic proportions and states of arousal i think it would be much better. it’s a shame. there’s a lot of horrible artists working in the comic industry who shouldn’t be … this guy could easily replace any of them.

  2. Yeah… He sort of just let’s it all… hang out there. It’s like they’ve all OD’d on extra-strenght viagra.

It would be sexier if it had slightly less… penis. And that has got to be the first time I’ve ever said that in my life. =)

  3. because we should all judge his entire work on a few selected pieces?

Did you even go to his blog and check out some of his other works?

I think the Tom of Finland Cock Fantasizing is what to many people try to relate similar work to. However, since this guys work is more comic style then Tom of Finland style you don’t see the same eye as you do with the Tom of Finland work… It seems like you are applying a double standard!

The ADULT FANTASY Realm artwork is awesome and it fits with his theme of GAY GEEK ART. Of course if you went to his Blog you would know this. Without knowing his true inspiration you can tell that he is meaning to appeal to a varied of communities in his work.

Not everyone will agree with his style but don’t down his talent because these pieces were chosen it doesn’t represent his entire portfolio.

  4. i see what you guys mean but i dont think it ruins the artistry at all.. its all fantasy and and erotic.. the penises add to the sense of fantasy and eroticism that the artist is trying to convey.. although i will say that the penises that the angel guy is standing on is a bit much

  5. Great artwork. And all you “haters” look at the “toons” from “fag rags” and you will see that most artists over exagerate the penis. I personally think a comic label should sign him; and quick. His artwork is very reminicient of MAD! (Joe Madueria – for the non-geeks).

I wish I could open the blog and see more art. But, when I go to it the page does not have the yes or no to enter.

  6. I love how the word “hater” is just thrown around anymore. So much for your all’s “open minded” mantra. It works both ways. If we are to be open minded, then you should be as well to our opinions. It doesn’t make us haters if we don’t care for every particular aspect of his work. We are allowed to have our opinions and express them, and so help me, I will if I so choose to! But that does not make me a hater. It DOES, however, make you very queen-like.

  7. It is not the penises in these pics that I have a problem with, it is the mouth area of most of them. They just don’t look right. But that is just my thoughts. I think he does great on the bodys.

  8. ToodM, I used the word hater, because this is actual art. I don’t give a rats ass if you like photos of a guy via, Dewitt, or not. I am far from a queen. But, as an artist myself, I do not care for those that are judgemental. And I can say this on this artist’s work, because he is working on a comic and video game. So, he is way above other artists. And for you to be hurt by my comment makes you more of a figgin’ queeen. Go look at some art and then some comic books. This artist’s work is over exagaterated, because it is just that – comic (pop) art. So, get over yourself. If you can name ten comic books excluding X-Men, Avengers, Batman, Superman or any other well known titles I will give you a reprieve. You failed to know to MAD! was.

And Bill, the area of the mouth fits with his ainme atyle of art. If you took a moment to look up henati or anime – you would see that this fine artist fits the bill for great artwork.

  9. HURT?!?!? LOL Your comments don’t have that kind of power! You may not be a queen, but you do think too much of yourself!
To me, tearing down an actual person is far worse than critiquing someone’s talent. A little twisted logic there.
